Bruce Dern had a 12 minute reminiscence that I also watched with interest. He had a couple of nice stories.

I looked at the other bonus features on the disc also: lobby cards, posters, pressbook, stills (including the infamous one with everyone standing or leaning on a Coke machine and holding bottles of Coke, taken after Joan "Pepsi" Crawford had left the project).

I had seletced the Blu-ray disc of THE UNTOUCHABLES to watch tonight after CHARLOTTE, but I only had an hour left, so I took out a BONES season 2 episode to watch in the remaining time.

This was the one with the glowing bones, a good mystery with a great twist ending.

I see on the calendar that today is the birthday of Phillip Crosby. Is that the Dear Reader who passed away?

No.  I believe Phil Crosby is still alive and well - alas, no longer posting - and living in Richmond, Virginia.

GRIND looks promising.  Since they went to the trouble of bringing in and crediting a new bookwriter (Brad Rouse), I assume they have hope for the rediscovery of the show itself, and I sensed that with just a little bit of work, the show could be worthy of another go.

I think our times are better for the racial aspects of the piece.  One example of this is that a satirical number about race (called "We All George") was removed originally - according to one of the books about Hal Prince because the performers would not do it - and here it is back in, quite a pointed number, and no one has any problem doing the number.

It was the first time I'd seen the lyricist Ellen Fitzhugh in close to ten years, although of course Skip has talked to her and seen her because of Herringbone, and it was really enjoyable to meet Larry Grossman.

Jim Morgan talked about that.  They had scheduled to have the Mon_Sun  week ending June 8 off from their Mufti schedule because that was the logical time for the Tonys to have been.  But then after all logistic and schedules had been worked out to do GRIND June 9-15, the Tonys decided to be June 15.

I'm newbie Mark's "lovely wife," Amy. Thanks for calling me "lovely," Bruce! Sorry this post is so late, but I understand there was a request for the pineapple pie recipe. It's embarrassingly quick and simple, so you'll have plenty of time left in the day to lay around like so much fish or drive around in your motorcar (if you can still afford a tank of gas). Here it is:

In a bowl, mix 1 can crushed pineapple (in juice, not syrup), 1/4 cup sugar, a dash of salt, 1 and 1/2 tablespoons of instant tapioca pudding mix, and 1 squeeze of lemon. Pour the mixture into the bottom pie shell. It probably wouldn't be a bad idea to drain off about half the pineapple juice first. I neglected to do this with Bruce's pies, and the filling tends to boil and create large fissures in the top crust, which made them pretty darn ugly pies. Then, lay the top crust on top, pinch the edges together, and poke in the steam holes. Make sure you use just regular size crusts - this is definitely NOT a deep-dish pie. Then, bake for 45 minutes at 400 degrees.

Dear Reader Amy

Welcome, New Dear Reader Amy!  And thanks for the pineapple pie recipe.  I think I'll make that the next time we have a pot-luck at work. :D

I have been errant and truant all day!  I didn't go to work.  My back was hurting when I woke up and I didn't feel like dealing with it and work at the same time, so I called in sick.  I feel much better now, so no vibes are needed. :)

While home today, I watched the last three episodes of "Reaper."  I love this show...except that for a guy who just turned 21 years of age, he sure is very comfortable in and a frequent visitor to the local bar. ::)

Later in the afternoon, I went to my parents' house for dinner and also because their friend Margita came to visit.  We've known her since we all lived in Germany at the same time (her ex-husband and my dad were in the army at the same time), when I was from four to seven years old.  She now lives in Spokane, Washington (and has for many years) and one of her four sons and his ex-wife live here in Olympia.

I then went to Lowe's and bought a new porch light.  I'll put it up sometime soon.  When I got home, I burned a few movies that I had on my DVD burner, but hadn't made actual DVDs of them, yet.  I made DVDs of "I Ought To Be In Pictures" with Walter Matthau and Dinah Manoff, an independent movie called "Primer" and a documentary called "The Lady in Question Is Charles Busch."  I also made a DVD of the laserdisc to Bernadette Peters' 1979 live concert (originally recorded for Canadian TV, I think)...in MCA DiscoVision! ;D

Right now, I'm watching an episode of "Whose Line Is It Anyway?" recorded from earlier today.  I love this show!  I'm also recording to my DVD burner The Manhattan Transfer's 1982 concert on laserdisc that I think has never been released on DVD.  I made an audio CD several years ago, but it's packed away in the garage.  Now, I'll have a DVD and a CD. :D
