Susie Bradbury wasn't there, and yes I remember her well.  It's always to weird to try to talk to people like Ray when there are that many people around, so I didn't.

Back from my errands and waiting for a callback from the DSL people, who left a message while I was out (naturally).

Hey, happy Valentine's Day everyone!

It's been a very nice day so far.  Got up very early to go get free boxes of chocolate at the mall.  Spent the morning shopping.  Had a really nice Valentine's call and some ecards (which I LOVE - I would highly recommend sweet mushy Valentine's ecards).  Sent some cool Valentine's stuff (which of course arrived early and WAS OPENED).  All in all a nice day.  And now I'm sleepy.

 God knows, I love the guy, but he's not a playwright."
Yes, the play was rather deadly (plays, actually -- two one-acters). And deadly Irish, which is even worse.
It's interesting how many excellent prose writers, simply cannot handle the stage (and/or screen) Back in my acting days I was in LEAVEN OF MALICE at the Shaw Festival. It was a play by Robertson Davies, no slouch in the prose department. But, God, what a terrible play. For the first and only time in my entire career, I had trouble remembering my lines - even months into the run. It was like speaking a novel, not dialogue. I remember that Mr. Davies came backstage opening night - wearing a cloak, no less, and I went and hid so I wouldn't have to speak to him. What would I have said? "Stick to novels, sir."...?

FS Pogue - I was going to say in my last posting, but forgot...
After last night's little escapade in the library, I hope you'll be a gentleman and get your books a dozen roses and a box of chocolates today.

I just received an e-mail from a fellow Kimlet reminding me that I had previously expressed dislike of anyone perpetuating the Hudson / Nabors marriage myth from the early 70s.  They are, of course, quite correct.  I do indeed dislike what has become a rather nasty urban legend, and I do complain when others continue to bring it up, as if it were true.  Which I guess just shows how low I will stoop for a cheap punch line.

My apologies to Jim Nabors and the late Rock Hudson.  I should really learn to censor myself before I try to censor others.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Therefore, my only other guess, Jrand, would be Pee Wee Herman, and just about any hand puppet.
A punch line is nearly always worth stooping for TCB. Of course with my imposing stature I do not have to stoop. The only Hollywood couple I can think of is the Newmans.
I'm going to have to be off-line for a bit because the DSL people say they need the line free for testing, so keep the home fries burning until my return.
I haven't a clue as to the identity of the Valentine's day couple! My first thought was Jayne Mansfield and Mickey Hargitay. Maybe Lana Turner and somebody? I think I will need a few clues. Are they still married?
I think someone mentioned yesterday encountering "Big Spender" as an inappropriate audition song.
When Cy Coleman spoke at Hoftstra last year he told a little story about Peggy Lee.  He had sent her a song and hadn't heard and hadn't heard, so he phoned her.
"Did you get the song?"
"Yes.  What are you working on now?"
"Oh, I'm doing a show with Dorothy Fields.  Have you looked at the song?"
"Yeah.  What sort of a show is it?"
"A big jazzy thing, lots of dance.  What did you think of the song?"
"Working on a number from the show?"
"Yes.  What did you think of the song I sent you?"
"Play it for me.  The number from the show."
"It really wouldn't be right for you.  It's a big ensemble dance number."
"Play it."
"Bum bum de bum bum bum.  The minute you walked in the joint..."
"Send it to me.  I'll make it a hit."
TCB:  Hey, we all tell tasteless, insulting jokes about celebrities sometimes--as if they weren't real people who could be hurt by it.  But I remember what Liz Taylor said when she got out of rehab.
She was at an AIDS benefit with Joan Rivers, and Joan said, "You know Elizabeth, all those jokes I made about your weight... I did it for your own good, you know."
And Liz replied, "No.  You did it for a cheap laugh, and you know it."
No MBARNUM it's not Mickey & Jayne nor is it Lana Turner and 1 of 7.
Clue - it was the first marriage for both, but not the last.
JRand: Thought of Bobby & Sandra but they were married in December. Colin suggested a Gabor with anyone! At least we are here for you!
All good choices but it was not Bobby & Sandy, Debbie & Eddie or ANY of the Gabors at ANY of their weddings.
Matthew I agree the book is a great gift.
Michael Shayne I just finished reading “In a Deadly Vein”.  I might get hooked on the series.
Echo & I had a very nice visit with our friends at the nursing home.  I also exposed myself to a violent intestinal virus.  The clothes I was wearing went directly into the washing machine.
We have decided to go out for dinner tonight.  Our first choice of restaurants had one opening left, unfortunately they have a special menu tonight which doesn’t include many vegetarian dishes.  Our second choice is booked until 9:30.  So we will just go into town and “wing” it.
Ok, I did some sleuthing and came up with two possibilities.
From the looks of the hats and clothes it is in the 1950s. And as the bride is a blonde it must be either:
It might be Mari Blanchard and  Reese H Taylor JR. (married 2/14/60). But as Mari, I think, was a brunette in 1960 I am going to go with my other choice..
Is it...could it be...Venetia Stevenson and Russ Tamblyn???
I was cutting a pineapple on a glass cutting board.  Said cutting board somehow slipped off the counter and onto my foot. Ouch :(
Does anyone know if icing it is the way to go? (20 minutes on every little while).  It hurts.
Yes ice it.  I would do what you are doing.  I gather the glass cutting board didn't cut you.  I hope you have soft comfortable shoes to wear tomorrow.
'ello, Ducks!  I finally got around to changing my profile photo, since the other one was too wide, and instead of pan and scan, the site squished me all up.
While I was playing with my photo program, I came up with these variations:
