I watched "Enchanted" on DVD this afternoon.

It was fun.  It was tuneful.  It was enjoyable.

Do I smell a "Broadway" version in the  next 10 years?

Well... Since Alan Menken still has Sister Act, Leap of Faith and a few other projects in his hopper right, I'd say more like 10-15 years down the line if at all.

Well, I went ahead and walked to the McDonald's near the "Sheraton    tes" and treated myself to a Filet-O-Fish sandwich - the first one I've had in years.  I also bought a couple of the $1.00 yogurt parfaits to keep here in my fridge for breakfast/snack.  -Hopefully, I'll be able to make a grocery store run tomorrow.

I really liked her also in Keeping UP Appearances.

Local public telly station has been airing that program.

I always count items to be scanned -- a six-pack is one scan, a yogurt is one scan, etc.

DR MBarnum,

Thanks for the photos. It's obvious you were having a ball and enjoying being with your friends and fellow enthusiasts.

I enjoyed seeing some of the folks you often talk about in your posts.

We had a really soaking rain tonight. It's starting to let up now, but it rained a good, solid hour. I know I'll be mowing in a few days, but we really did need this rain.

I watched the rest of SLEEPING BEAUTY when I went back down. Seems like a lot of people weren't very pleased with the DVD release of SLEEPING BEAUTY several years ago when it came out, but it is SO superior to the laserdisc in video quality that I was well pleased and still enjoy watching it.

Programs I could not miss when I was a kid and a few since then....

MASH
Little House on the Prairie
The Waltons
The Cosby Show
Murder She Wrote (Still like that show)

local public telly station broadcasted several shows I had to watch each day they were broadcast:

Doctor Who
All Creatures Great and Small
Are You Being Served?

THere was one I wanted to miss but my father controlled the remotes on Saturday and that was HEE HAW

Then I was able to watch the first three episodes of MAD MEN on Blu-ray. Obviously the visual quality of the shows is markedly improved from the analog cable resolution of AMC that I get here. The sharpness, color depth, and widescreen expanse adds immeasurably to the show's effectiveness in portraying that period in time (1960).

I sampled the audio commentaries on all the episodes since I had seen them and knew I wasn't missing anything I didn't already know. The first two shows have two different commentaries each. The third episode has one commentary (the first that star Jon Hamm participates in.)

It's really a marvelous series.

I completed my evening's viewing with tonight's LAW & ORDER: CI. Excellent episode with an old friend of the captain's asking for his help when her young husband goes missing (allegedly eloping with a younger woman.) Among the guest stars were Brenda Strong and Eric Roberts.

There are two more episodes of MAD MEN on the first disc, and I'll likely watch both of them tomorrow afternoon.

BTW, the audio mix on the Blu-rays is DTS-HD MA, what I'd call REAL overkill for a show that does a lot of talking. Nice to have the lossless soundtrack (and the period music sounds great piped into the rear channels), but it really seems like they've gone all out for this season 1 release.

As a "customer" who interprets "express lane" as something intended for specifically limited quantities and faster service, any  item that has to be scanned should be "one item".

To say that 20 packages of toilet paper is "one item" is wishful thinking  on the part of the buyer, although the store seems willing to overlook it in the name of "sales."

The nature of "Express Lane" has become a very sick joke. Most stores put their most inexperienced cashiers in these lanes, seemingly, and it seems the regular lanes move much faster.

I do give in to the extra item in "Buy One, Get One Free", however.  I would not count the "Get One Free" as one of the 15 or 20 items in the express lanes.

I agree Ron.  It wasn't too long ago that I saw someone with a full basket pulling up to the express lane ahead of me.  I said "Excuse me, but this is the express lane." and they went to another checker. The people around me thanked me for doing that

I guess everybody thinks of it differently.

I'm not talking about having 15 of 8 items and saying you have 8.

But if i have 3 Cokes, 3 steaks, 3 cartons of milk, and 3 boxes of cake mix. I think most people would go to the express of 8 of less.

I would say you have 12 items and shouldn't be in the express lane unless it's a lane with a max of 12 items or more
