I'm envisioning you walking down the steet pulling a little red wagon with said things inside it.

You have the picture correct. Elmore is so cute that way.

I also Tivo-ed THE CRIMISON KIMONO and will be burning it to DVD, since no official DVD of it has been released.

I love the movie, or what I remember of it...I saw it many, many years ago. Of course anything with James Shigeta and Glenn Corbett in it is a must see, for me.

I am just back from driving about and accomplishing some lunch errands.

And listening to a lyricist on my CD player who thinks that "horror" rhymes with "seņora."  ???

Does anyone know where DR Jeanne has been the past three days?

And here is another one...is DR DanTheMan ever returning to us??

From his posts this morning, one might think that DR Ron Pulliam has been inhaling some of that bad air in his neck of the woods.  ;)

My last email to him [some time ago] remains unanswered.

I am also hoping for some lovely items to arrive in the mail soon...one is an original 1965 poster from the Bollywood film GUMNAAM!

It should be winging it's way to me from, of all places, Germany. However, after I ordered I realized I forgot to list my zip code. So I imagine the package will be sitting in a mail place for quite some time before they can figure out where in tarnation it is supposed to go.

My DH and I went out in search of a map and breakfast. He had the breakfast while I had iced tea. My ankle did fine, so I guess there will be no more lying on the couch with my foot on a pillow listening to CDs.

Sad tales fill soaked libraries

http://www.desmoinesregister.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20080625/NEWS02/806250374/1001/NLETTER01&source=nletter-news

How you can help Iowa libraries
Flooded libraries ask that the public not donate books at this time. They do not yet have systems in place to organize them or anywhere to store them. Monetary donations for cleanup and for the purchase of new materials can be sent to:
- Cedar Rapids Public Library Foundation, 500 First St. S.E., Cedar Rapids, IA 52401. Mail will be forwarded to the west side branch.
- The National Czech and Slovak Museum and Library, 30 16th Ave. S.W., Cedar Rapids, IA 52404-5904. Please write "Flood Relief" in the memo line of your check. More information is available at www.ncsml.org.
- Friends of the New Hartford Public Library, P.O. Box 292, New Hartford, IA 50660.

I normally wouldn't post a donation site, but they are saying that with all the devastation, the libraries aren't a priority for the funding that's available.  So if anyone feels so inclined as to help out somewhere, this may be a good place to send a monetary donation.

The story really tells it all and has photos

from the story at the link above

Quote
The Cedar Rapids library staffers may not know for some time exactly what is missing and what was checked out; their server was still inside the building early this week. Water rose 5 feet in the building, and most of its 294,000-item collection is feared lost.

Because the city suffered so much - the Cedar River flooding covered more than 400 city blocks and displaced thousands of people and businesses - the library that is usually a center of activity is now at the bottom of the priority list.

"The library is not that important right now, I must admit. The most important thing is to get people into houses and back at their jobs and get the essential services that government provides," said Kay Halloran, Cedar Rapids' mayor.

"As far as I'm concerned, personally, I want to have the water treatment plant back to its normal operation. All the other stuff can wait. They've got people working on whatever can be salvaged from the library, and that takes care of things for now."

The other public library ruined is New Hartford's Elizabeth Rasmussen Martin Memorial Library, a tiny place that reportedly lost 4,600 of its 5,600 books. The library also lost five computers, four of which were new last year.

The National Czech and Slovak Museum and Library in Cedar Rapids also sustained significant damage; two more sites at the University of Iowa in Iowa City have unknown but possibly serious damage. Others have minimal water damage.

Well, they did move the next scheduled test up a day.  And adjusted the dosage downward for today.  Oy.

If when they come to draw blood, they bring a back-up bucket - get nervous :)

Hi Cilla.  How is your big case coming along?

It's coming. I have some big deadlines on Monday for jury instructions, evidentiary issues to be decided before trial etc.   The case is really quite fascinating.

I still have tons to do to get ready, but you sort of have to do it in layers - get a feel for what happened and then go back and look at the pieces, look at how the police put them together and see what pieces don't fit with their version, what pieces were ignored that could mean something and how they have twisted things to fit their story.   Then you do the same thing for each eye witness and try to find motive etc.   It's a lot of fun if you're into this sort of thing, which I am and now my assistant is too

One last flood blurb....I don't think people realize how bad it is here. This is another story headline in the DM Register today.
Quote

2,000 C.R. homes could be demolished

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa -- As many as half of the 4,000 flood-damaged homes in Cedar Rapids may have to be razed.

City Manager Jim Prosser told the City Council on Tuesday that it's possible that 2,000 or more homes may have to be demolished because they would be difficult to rebuild.

Prosser says it a "daunting number."

Prosser says many of the homes are in the 100-year flood plain, generally the hardest hit part of the June 11-13 flooding. Floodwaters flowed well past the 100-year flood plain to properties in the 500-year flood plain and beyond.

Fire Chief Steve Havlik says search and rescue teams visited 4,700 homes in the hours and days after the flooding.

On Monday, the city's assessor's office estimated that 3,894 homes and 818 commercial properties were flooded.

Hiya DR Laura.  Trust me on taking it easy.  These things injuries have a habit of pretending to be better when they aren't. Be very careful before you overuse the ankle.
