America's Shirtlessness Index:

Quote
After seeing actor and Dancing With the Stars champion Mario Lopez's current shirtless TV Guide cover and recent People magazine spread, we couldn't help but wonder: just how shirtless is Mario Lopez? We decided we'd compare him to other popular be-pec'ed celebrities — perpetually half-nude actor Matthew McConaughey and dancer/romancer Justin Timberlake, for example — by having our esteemed assistant Nicola conduct a Google image search in the hopes of attaining some sort of shirtlessness ratio. Our results proved our suspicions: 13 of the top 20 results for a Google image search for Lopez's name come up with shirtless pics— or 65%. Thus making Mario Lopez the Most Shirtless Man in America. Consult the above Shirtlessness Index to see how other abdominal Adonises measure up.

Butter makes bitter batter better.    :)

So I guess you know Betty Boughter too. She's always buying just a bit of butter because she always ends up making bitter batters. That is, until she puts in a bit of butter, which, inevitably, makes the bitter batter better.

Good morning!

This is the first morning I didn't have the doors and windows open and fresh air blowing through the house. I could probably have gotten away with it for a couple of hours, but last night was too warm when I went to bed, and I would not have been comfortably trying to go to sleep.

the study where der B was here on the computer, told him it was too late for dinner, which he agreed to and said he'd scrounge,

Dinner must wait when a HHW posting marathon is afoot.     :D

I think the most I have ever gone without sleep was around 36 hours. It was the day and night of the senior class play. After the play, we went to the river cabin of one of the cast members and had an all-night party. We never went to sleep, and when  I got back home around 1 or 2 p.m., I fell into bed and slept the rest of that Saturday and on into Sunday.

I never had to pull all nighters in college. I was one of those nerds who always did papers ahead of time (started doing research the day the papers were assigned) and kept up with homework daily so that when tests came around, I studied a couple of hours the night before in the library and then came back to the dorm and went to bed.

I remember some of my fellow English majors never read the assigned novels until the night before quizzes. I could NEVER have done that. First, I wouldn't have been able to participate in class discussions of the books, and second, I just liked to read (why else be an English major?) so I WANTED to read classics I wasn't familiar with.

I'm going to have some company (a Stephen Sondheim reference) this afternoon, but he's going to have to watch WALKER TEXAS RANGER with me. (We'll probably make fun of it.) I can't lose an afternoon entertaining a friend who's crashing here until his flight leaves at 5:30.

As for the longest going without food, I don't think it's ever been very long. I did not have a big appetite when I was young and a teenager, so I ate when I was hungry but if I wasn't I didn't worry about it. Now, I am CONSTANTLY hungry, and if I gave in to all my cravings, I'd weigh 300 pounds.

Like DR George and DR Jose, I do find some merit in the video of COMPANY. I didn't care for Barbara Walsh at all, I didn't like how the karate was staged, and certainly the TV direction of the theater production was very flawed.

But most of the core cast did well with their roles and their singing ranged from good to great. So, as I've said in the past, I have all of the other Sondheim-on-TV productions that have been made commercially available (except the Lupone SWEENEY concert which I abhored), and I'm happy to have this. It's better than nothing.

I have done several long fasts in my life, including a 32 day one back when I was in my early 20s.  I did supplement my foodlessness with occasional drinks of chocolate milk--don't ask me why, I was a veritable child.

The longest you've ever gone without food is 2 hours?  Do you wake up every 2 hours in the night to eat?  ;)

I am most sleepy today. And I have many things to do. Maybe I'll go to the jail and do visits this afternoon.  That doesn't take a lot of thought and makes my clients happy

Thursday morning greetings!  I slept until almost 9 this morning and Richard took me first thing over to the lab for the blood test that will determine today's blood thinner dosage.  In their computer, there's a "standing order" for this test for me, so I guess I'll be having it fairly frequently throughout the summer  :P
