my knees were sore yesterday...

Vibes to Jose

No Vibes needed, but thanks for your concern.

All better now after some stretching and some potassium (courtesy of a banana).

Well, if you go to Amazon you'll get the ratings on it. People who like really strong coffee are disappointed. I'm not that into really strong coffee.  You are supposed to use one coffee pod with each cup, a cup being 4 oz.  (that's not the math I learned, but that's the system).  I use one pod for 2 cups/mug setting and I like it, the instructions are to use 2 pods for 8 oz.   Today I used a Republic of Tea round tea bag and it worked well for 8oz.

I think the Senseo coffee pods are sort of expensive, I got 18 Folgers pods for $4.00 and some odd change. There are other brands making the pods now too. You can also get a permanent filter or make your own pods, so there are ways to do it less expensively.  I'll forward you the email offer if you like.  The shipping and handling was $15 and the unit I got was free and new.  I think you should be able to use the link from the same email, but I'm not sure.

Thanks, Cilla, I would appreciate that.  The coffee pods do seem expensive.

On my last Perry Mason of this best of set - the last three episodes prove Raymond Burr correct - they should have stopped after season seven.  They were really scraping the bottom of the barrel by 1965 and 1966.

The also started remaking some of the earlier episodes, just giving them different titles.

The ice cream man has had his truck parked just down the block from me all afternoon.  Now that the traffic has thinned out, I realize that his truck plays Greensleeves over and over and over again!

Maybe that coffee maker is like a cheap printer: it's cheap, but they make their money on the pods (and ink cartridges).

Before I resort to violence against a childhood icon, I think I wll shut off the computer, and go watch the Mariners game in the back bedroom.

I guess you don't know the lyrics DR TCB and they have to keep repeating the message!

Well, it's a new sort of system. I think the promotion is to get people to start telling their friends about it. It's called the Senseo share promotion and they give you the $20 off coupons. The offer is over June 30. The coffee pot is regularly about $70. So I don't think it's necessarily cheap. I do think that they make a lot of money off their coffee pods, but there are several ways around that, so it's not so bad.  Since I only drink 1 cup in the morning (a big cup, normally, but only one).  I have always just bought a cup of coffee. For me it's cheaper to use the Senseo and make one cup at home.

I'm really not trying to sell these, just thought if anyone was interested I'd try to share the free offer before it expires.

"cast off" being a reference to fishing!

I think the Senseo system has been out for a couple of years already.  I believe it came out around the same some of the other "individual pod" systems came out.  In any case...

I have a few friends who own a Senseo system, and they tend to stock up on the pods when they go on sale, as well as at Costco.  One of my friends tends to find good deals on the pods at Office Depot and/or Staples!

Ate some lunch and am watching the last of the Perry Masons.  I had no idea the last season was in color (were any others?) - Perry Mason and color is just plain weird.  Mr. Burr said in an interview that he wished they'd stopped after seven seasons - he's clearly unhappy with the final two seasons and this episode from 1966, a variation on Oliver Twist shows why - it's awful, and it clearly has no place on a best of compilation.  By the time of this episode, Ray Collins had passed on - he was really missed.

I believe that was the only color episode which was filmed. I don't believe they shot a full season in color until Monte Markham took over the role in the 1970s (and, of course, it didn't last).

You're right - I listened to the Barbara Hale intro and that's what she said.  Also, the final episode of this box set is the final episode of the series.  Very amusing cameos be everyone who worked on the show - from crew members, to producers, directors, network execs.

Sorry to those who didn't care for DEXTER, but I find it one of the most mesmerizing series on TV.

Obviously the trustees of the George Foster Peabody Award thought so, too, as they gave it their highest award after its first season.

And I, too, think the second season was even more riveting.

I watched another MURDER SHE WROTE episode to begin my evening of viewing. This one found Jessica in London finding a body in the suite next to hers and upon summoning the police, found that the body had disappeared. She kept finding it and it would disappear before she could get someone to help her. Lloyd Bochner was the primary guest star in the episode.

Next I watched THE RUINS. Much to my surprise, it was OK. Yes, very bloody, but the premise wasn't half bad, and like the best horror stories, the threat to the group brings out the monster in the victims so that they are actually their own worst enemies, not the evil force trying to take them over.

And thankfully, it wasn't all that long so I had plenty of time to go through all of the bonus features. There were three featurettes on the making of the film; the first two about 15 minutes each and the third one about 6 minutes. There were five deleted scenes and the trailer. And, of course, an audio commentary. Thank goodness the film editor was there to keep the director talking or else he would have sat there and watched the movie. I enjoyed the commentary even though the director was one of those folks who says "you know" after every few words. He does it throughout the featurettes and the commentary.

I spent the last half hour watching the "making of" documentary on the FORBIDDEN PLANET HD-DVD edition. Nice to see such an important cross section of Hollywood folk today praising it so highly.
