Got this nifty old wheel barrow at a yard sale for $6 and use it each summer to put flowers in.

The brick porch I put in this spring.

The brick porch looks great, DR MBarnum!

And I'll bet you know all about hanging baskets.

My favorite planter, which I picked up at K-Mart last year. Begonias have started to spring out if it now.

My other favorite flowers, carried at Home Depot* every year.

      * The best time to go to this store is very early on Sunday mornings, I have found...lots of lovely specimens...and I don't mean the products on sale!

I stopped on the way home from the pet shop to buy a strawberry-rhubarb pie.

Sadly, I discovered that my favorite place for such activities has closed.  The interior was stripped bare, and there was a "for lease" sign in the window.     :'(

I suppose that we all have to deal with shriveled baskets from time to time.

The new hutch that I found at a thrift shop...eventually the debris surrounding it will be put away, but for now the dining room is a bit of a mess.

Now that I have that hutch, I was able to unpack some of my favorite kitschy treasures which had been in boxes and cupboards since I moved into this house 7 years ago.

The same day that I found the hutch at Teen Challenge Thrift store, I found this wonderful lamp at Goodwill.

Hutch # 2 was found at an estate sale. It now houses part of a vintage Barbie collection.

Note the Barbie in the original box...my grandma had that sitting in her close all of these years and I she gave it to me shortly before she passed away. She had bought it for one of the grandkids way back in the early 60s, but had forgotten all about it! After that I became the keeper of our family's old toys.

DR Cillaliz - glad you had a successful "run for the roses."  What color did you get?

Well, I was going to do the whole rainbow, but it didn't look that great together, so mostly red, with some varigated and some dark pink. they smell fabulous

Thanks for the photos, DR MBarnum. Now I know how Snow White felt when she first entered the home of  the seven dwarfs.

They won't because there will be more penalites if they do.  I think it's time for some of these obscenely profitible companies to share the wealth.

Well, until the Commies take over - that won't happen. You can impose price controls, but you can't make a company manufacture or sell goods!

Exxon/Mobil is a less profitable business venture than is Target! Their profit margin is quite slim, it's just the fact that they are the world's largest corporation that makes their gross profits so large.

I sure hope a bk administration plans on enlisting the help of some talented economists and doesn't rely on Ouija Board policies.

Oh, der Brucer you're just towing the same party line that's been towed for the last 100 years, which is why nothing ever changes.  I'm going to weep for the "small" profit margin, emphasis on the word profit, of billions of dollars?  That's some small profit margin - you believe what you want and I'll believe what I want.  The financial waste using people's tax dollars is appalling and all it would take to really effect change is two million people standing up and saying "I'm mad as hell and I'm not going to take it anymore" and then refusing to pay taxes.  Want to know how fast things would change?  Instantly.

Thanks for the tour of your home environment, DR MBarnum!  If I got a new hutch could I then unpack the things that are still down the basement -  wrapped in 1988 newspapers?

Just incredibly hot and muggy here today. My back porch (which is glassed in) could be a sauna it's so hot and humid on the porch (it's where my washer and dryer are.)

Love the mini-tour of your house and grounds, DR MBarnum. Probably more of us should do this since we've all been communicating with each other for so many years, it would help everyone to get to know one another better.
