Today is the first day of my "get strong" campaign, in preparation for returning to work a week from Monday.

Have you considered a  hearty stroll brief hobble around a city park to re-acquaint yourself with the homeless?

DR Laura, I gave my camera to Bryan for his trip.  For most the places I walk I already have photos I can return to.

Kerry Hughes isn't straight either.  His picture is most often crooked these days.

He may be crooked but he sure is cute! :)

According to my friends who frequent the public library here in town, I could accomplish the same thing there.  I keep telling them that the problem here is just the tip of the iceberg that we see in the bigger city (where the library is just a few blocks from the bus station).

DR Matt H.  I’m glad you didn’t remove your appendix for as a preventative.  Most people catch it early if they listen to their bodies.
I removed my ovaries to prevent cancer, no guarantee it will work & even listening to my body the odds of catching it early enough are very slim.

TOD:

My first introduction to computers was in 1979-1980 when the library at the Defense Information School (located at that time north of Indianapolis at Fort Benjaming Harrison) installed six units.  I don't know what kind they were, but they were linked to a number of mid-western colleges and universities.  I learned some programming and wrote some quizzes for students to help them brush up on their Associated Press Stylebook knowledge.  Couldn't remember how to do it today to save my life.

From there, I went to USS Carl Vinson (CVN-70), a nuclear-powered aircraft carrier, that had a Wang computer system.  The entire ship was linked to it and I learned all I needed to know to get work done on it.  We even prepared the text for our daily newspaper on the Wang.

I had exposure to other PC systems, later, in Naples, Italy, and on the USS Kitty Hawk (CV-63), using mostly WordPerfect.  When I started working with the County of Alameda, they were using Wang.  A few months later, we shifted to HP computers and MS Word.

I got my first personal PC in 1996 or 1997.  PacBell was offering a free Compaq Presario unit for any DSL service subscription.  The rate was $39.99 per month.  After 24 months, the computer was "bought."  I've had the same DSL service all these years (which is now $59.95/mo.), but I replaced that tired old Compaq unit last November when I bought my new HP system with a 24-inch flat-screen monitor.  I know the Compaq probably should have been replaced much earlier, but it served its intended purpose very well.  I've still not managed to get it out of the Condo, either.

I hope the missing dog is found.

I worried so when Craig brought Yogi over from Romania.  Craig said he never wants to move Yogie by plane again.  The cat wasn’t so bad since she could was small enough to travel in the cabin of the plane.

Kerry and others - go to yesterday's posts, page one, and it explains how to pre-preorder.  As I said, it's not going to be up on the Kritzerland site for another week or two, as the web designer is traveling.

But here it is again - send payment directly to kritzerland at adelphia dot net (replace the "at" and "dot" with the usual signs) - $24 for the signed book and bonus gift (of which there are only 19 left now), and $5 for priority shipping, for a total of $29.

DR Jennifer:  I don't know whether to feel insulted or not.  I hope you know that I am well aware that what is presented on TV is a severe edit of what goes on inside the house.  I've been following "Big Brother" as long as you have, if not longer..

I guess maybe it's not easy to interpret what people really mean on HHW just by reading the text.

Because i was not trying to insult you. I wasn't even specifically talking about you.

I actually found what you wrote insulting. As if my finding jessie's body unappealing or my really liking brian was wrong.  You don't have to agree with me. But what i think is what i think.   The funny thing is the 2 boards i read (tvwithoutpity and hamsterwatch) both loved brian. Although i actually liked him immediately from the sunday night show.

Does anyone use Pandora.com?

Craig told Keith about it and he is now setting up some great music to listen to.

I watched Big Brother once, I think during my lengthy stay in NY last year - I didn't like it at all, but then again, I don't like any of this reality TV stuff.  I actually didn't mind it when it was called You Asked For It, or Kids Say The Darndest Things or stuff like that.  It's the DRAMATIC music and the way the things are edited.  I'm reminded of Who Wants To Be A Millionaire - a simple game show with all that horrible SUSPENSE and DRAMATIC music and those PAUSES - I couldn't stand it.  I liked the old Password, when it was fun.  Or the $64,000 Question.

Well it obviously was in reference to what he had posted!

But it was not meant as an insult. Sorry if it was construed as one.

I like to discuss BB with DR RonP. And sometimes our opinions are the same and sometimes they are not.  But I don't want to come across as insulting.

I want a signed (personalized of course -- with love), but my computer is saying there is no such palce.  Save me a copy please until we work this out.  This has happened before when I tried to order.

I apologize for any comments or postings I made that you considered insulting.  My posts of the photos of Jessie yesterday were an attempt to get other opinions as to whether he looks "ridiculous", as you said.

I think anyone who takes care of his body, especially "naturally" as he does, it to be commended.  I've seen some overdone body builders in my life and Jessie isn't anywhere near in danger of becoming like them, so far as I can tell.

I was offended by April's first-day parading around of her breasts, insisting that each houseguest feel them to verify that they are, indeed, real and not implants.  But I can look past them, for the most part, as long as she doesn't flaunt them.

As for Renny:  Poor thing.  Every time she has a chance to speak on camera she can barely string three coherent phrases together.  She was introduced Sunday as a hairdresser from New Orleans.  Tuesday evening, she was called a "New Orleans socialite".  Somewhere in there is an interesting story and I'm sure she can be totally delightful when she's in her element.  She's a fish out of water in that house, as is Jerry.  Her propensity toward being ditzy doesn't help.

okay no problem.

Actually i really don't find jessie's muscles look natural at all. I'm not saying they aren't. But when he took off his shirt a few times, i really thought that he looked awful. They were so big, and i really dilike that look.

I'm not sure how i feel about april. I thought that boob feel stuff was ridiculous. I sort of liked her with ollie when i first saw them together. But i did not like her and libra ganging up on ollie. Although like i said i really did not like what he did. I know he had to save himself. But to me it was the worst way possible. He made a deal and sold out his group right away, without a second thought.

One thing i wonder, is why didn't jerry talk to brian before the veto ceremony. All he had to do to keep his honor (IMO) was to just tell him what had happened before.

Well renny, the less said about her the better. Nobody seems to like her. and i actually thought she was the one way out of line in the jessie fight.

re: the emmy noms:

Outstanding Supporting Actor In A Drama Series

Boston Legal • ABC • William Shatner as Denny Crane

Damages • FX Networks • Ted Danson as Arthur Frobisher

Damages • FX Network Zeljko Ivanek as Ray Fiske

Lost • ABC • ABC Studios  Michael Emerson as Ben

Mad Men • AMC • John Slattery as Roger Sterling

I like them all but would have to choose michael emerson. To me he is magic.
