Larry - Please call us when you know if you're going to make it -  i guess that would be  when you know whether you're making that 4 pm train.  In terms of places to sit, knowing one way or the other whether it's 8 or 9 people will help a bit.  The more the merrier of course (especially when you're the "more"), but we just want to be ready as far in advance as we can.

So it's Skip, me, BK, jose, JulieMiller, singdaw, Vixmom, vixter,

I had planned to talk to you about it before I leave on Thursday morning, DR FJL! I will let you know as well on Friday how the schedule looks. I hate to miss so many dearly loved folks!

Fred, thanks very much for the note to Anthony. As I was reading it he called and I was able to read it to him on the phone (since like so many spouses he doesn't read this here site). He was moved and very appreciative and wants to extend his thanks to both you and Skip!

My favorite Andrew Lloyd Webber song?

Although I really don't like the show it's from (i.e. SUNSET BLVD.), I would have to pick "With One Look" as my favorite Webber tune.

And, of course, 2nd place would have to go to "Don't Cry for Me Argentina".

As for the Topic of the Day...

I'm another fan of "Nothing Like You've Ever Known" from Tell Me On A Sunday.  I "used" to like the song "Tell Me On A Sunday", but after hearing it butchered one too many times at auditions, well... It's one of the rare songs that causes me to immediately roll my eyes as soon as it's put on the piano in front of me.

I also like "Skimbleshanks" from Cats - another odd-metered song, 13/8, I believe, in some sections.

re: them announcing the winner of the Search for Elle Woods before the show was over. I don't get why they did that. Or why some newspapers also had the articles online before the show had even aired.

Alas since episode 5 i've only been able to see a few (very few) bits and pieces. THe show is supposedly going to air starting mid-august here. So i will catch up on the episodes i missed, since i really enjoyed the show.

In the beginning my favorites were lauren and rhiannon!

And I believe that's all for me for right now.  I have another hour of so with the folks from Disneyworld this morning, and then I think I may hit a museum this afternoon and/or a movie.  -Or wherever else I can stay cool and dry (since we're supposed to get storms today).

Laters...

Speaking of Andrew Lloyd Webber, he was in charage of choosing which maria went home last night on the HOW DO I SOLVE A PROBLEM LIKE MARIA show.

I was sort of afraid he might choose the wrong girl.but thankfully he did not. They are now down to 3 girls (one of whom i really really like). But i was annoyed because she got one of the lowest votes (bottom 2). Yet her line was busy from when the show ended for 1 1/2 hours. Something does not seem right. Because how can you vote for her if her line is always busy!

As for my favorite ALW songs. I won't say he is my favorite. But i do enjoy a lot of his songs and shows.

I really like EVITA, and like "another suitcase in another hall", "i'd be surprisingly good for you" among others.

I like JOSEPH, "Close Every door".

I don't love PHANTOM. But enjoy it.

I liked CATS when i was a little kid. :)

I like "love changes everything" (ASPECTS of LOVE).

I do like SUNSET BLVD and have seen it a few times on stage (toronto, bway..). JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR i like okay.

Good morning!

Even hotter weather is forecast for today (98 for the high), so it's swelter-land here in NC. Ugh!

Am I remembering correctly?  Did there used to be a salad dressing called "Goddess"?

I had a friend whose parents put him in the care of his grandparents.  They raised him from age 5 on.  After the grandfather passed just after my friend's 19th birthday, he began to dote on his grandmother to the extent that he might be considered under the influence of grammatolatry!

Of course, the same thing could be said for a few folks I've encountered on the internet.

So intense is it, is some cases, that nothing will do but that 15 words will be used where only two will do.

Though EVITA is the only ALW show that I like, there are a handful of songs from other shows that I really love (and for me, that's saying something):

"I Don't Know How to Love Him"

"Starlight Express"

"Only You"

"Tell Me on a Sunday"

"With One Look"

and my favorite of all the songs is "Buenos Aires" from EVITA.

There was Green Goddess. That was my father's favorite dressing.

Elmo:  On those credited songs you aren't sure were yours -- do they "sound" like you?

There was Green Goddess. That was my father's favorite dressing.

That's the one!  I couldn't make it work in my mind with the word "Goddess" alone.

Thanks!  :D

As for the movie of EVITA, I only liked Bandaras and (to a lesser extent) Pryce.

The music has been altered so that Madonna can struggle through it (tempos slowed, keys lowered), and it takes the zest right out of the show. It's TURGID now.

I despised their giving "Another Suitcase" to her; she didn't NEED yet another song (especially adding that new tune so ALW could qualify - and win - an Oscar).

And that nonanamorphic transfer is abominable. Obviously Disney lost money on the movie and has no desire to strike another DVD correctly the faults.

I bought a used copy of EVITA on DVD just because of Bandaras.

Nothing on TV for me tonight. NCIS is a repeat from last season which I have on DVD, so no need to record that.

It's supposed to get all the way up to F 68 degrees here today!

Whew!

We had a high of F 62 degrees yesterday.  That was considerably warmer than our high of F 58 degrees Sunday.

These are the recuperation days from the stretches of brutal heat we've had.

If we had somewhat warmer days and cool nights that would make it a perfect summer.

So, here I am again waiting for THE SCORPION KING to arrive on Blu-ray so I can review it. If it doesn't come, I'll have to keep moving on through the next TV box set, THE HILLS - Season Three. Having never seen season one or two, I hope I can catch up with the characters and their backstories.
