And the word of the day is: POPINJAY!
It almost sounds like something from Elmore's VHS collection, but I don't think he's into that kind of stuff.  Exactly.

LOL!

Apparently, the newscaster almost missed coming back into the studio for the local news break during "The Today Show".  She just spent the past three minutes trying to catch her breath after running into the studio, and gasping for air almost every other word.
Bad timing on taking a cigarette break, huh?  Serves her right.

Good morning, all! I had weird dreams about the Macbeths last evening, something about a dinner they were throwing and I was forced to attend as "family."  Ugh.  I've spent the morning entering phone numbers into my new cell phone and I am almost caught up with all of the returns on the requests I sent out.

I'm about ready to leave for Toyland and then the NYPL. After that I have to deliver a score to my copyist Jonathan.

TOD: ice cream! I've become quite partial to Turkey Hill Black Cherry. I am becoming my father.

I've sent him an e-card, but I'll extend birthday wishes here as well to Kevin!

TOD

I really don't bother with calorie counting, in any way, shape or form.  Some time back, when der B's health wasn't in a good way, his doc told him basically to keep his weight up, and I've been cooking for him that way ever since.

All I do is make sure he's got a good balance of foods to eat, that are enjoyable, flavorful and nutritious.  I stay away from pre-prepared stuff, cooking as much as I can from scratch, and using prepared stuff (such as salad dressings) as ingredients in a dish, rather than relying on them as the dishes themselves.  So far, the results have been pretty good.  He's looking good, for a guy who is about to hit

70

in less than two weeks.

Speaking of which, since it's der B's birthday coming up, I've found a very nice variant on the usual leg of lamb recipe for his birthday dinner:

The usual involves poking holes into the leg, and stuffing the holes with rosemary and garlic.  The variant adds...

wait for it...

ANCHOVIES!!!

Yep, the anchovies melt into the lamb while the leg roasts, boosting the flavor up that very nice notch.  On top of which, the whole of the leg is schmeared with an anchovy butter, which melts into the lamb itself and down into the basting liquid in the bottom of the pan (involving white wine), which can then be reduced down into a wonderful sauce to serve with the lamb.

Add some nicely mashed potatoes and a veg, and we've got a wonderful dinner for der B's birthday.

I have no idea what the calorie count would be on a serving of this meal, and I really don't care.  A well-fed der Brucer is a happy der Brucer, and that's all that matters.

Good Morning, once again!

Greetings from Chelsea Studios.  Looks like it will be a busy morning.  As for whether or not it will be a good or bad morning, well, that waits to be seen.

I don't count calories at all when i'm watching what i'm eating.

I've been eating as much as i want (which granted isn't very much) of meat, chicken, cheese, fruits and veggies.

I occasionally eat pumpernickel bread.

But stay away from any type of dessert (except light jello and whipped topping). No sugars. No processed foods.

The one thing i'm missing is exercise. Have not been good at all! I need to try to bike more times a week (at least 3). And i have a rebounder, which i should do every day.

Good morning!

Felt very warm this morning when I went out to get the paper, and we're going to have a high of 93 today, so I'm determining that we're still in the midst of summer.

I should get in a bit more nap time.  I've been wanting to go downtown, just to putz around for a few hours, preferably on my own, and there's the Farmer's Market today as well.

And tonight is the season opener for EUReKA.

Then it's back to my usual schedule tomorrow for billing at work.

Today I'll finish THE CLOSER episode from Season 2 that I started last night. I'm not sure if I'll have time for anything fun today since I'll be working.

I saw that EUREKA was beginning its third season tonight.

I don't watch it, and the NCIS episode is another rerun from last season, so nothing on TV tonight for me.

I'll be watching BRAND UPON THE BRAIN from Criterion today. Sounds like a very unusual movie from the little bit I've read about it. There are also a good many bonus features on the one disc (the film only runs 99 minutes), so it may take me into the evening before I'm finished with this release.

*And, yes, you can eat pizza and still lose weight.  You can eat any food and still lose weight.  It's just a matter of how much of each food you eat.

AND how much you exercise.

Gotta go. It's errand day, plus a real estate agent is coming by later and I need to clean things up a bit. She wants to see my new bathroom floor (and some other things).

It rained onstage last night....and rained and rained and rained.

Oh and it rained in the audience too.  I forgot my camera....but I will try to remember to take it tonight.
