Media check:

In my CD player at work right now:  nothing.  I'm hoping that they'll swap out my computer sometime today, but I know that it'll happen when it happens.  I could be next week or ... who knows??

In my DVR:  "Doctor Who" (to be recorded tonight) and something else that I can't remember.  I also recorded this morning's performance of Rent on "Good Morning America."

I have a Google alert set up to notify us of anything written about our film. My search terms are the name of the film plus the director (my partner Peter.)

Here's the most interesting result so far:

In my DVD burner upstairs:  Alfred Hitchcock's "Rope" that I recorded a few days ago.  I created chapter breaks and will burn it to a DVD soon.

In my DVD burner downstairs:  I found a couple of shows on videotape that I recorded to my DVD burner and will make DVDs of:  Romance/Romance from A&E and A Little Night Music with Sally Ann Howes from 1990. :D The sound is mono on both (even though R/R was broadcast in stereo, my VCR at the time was only mono :P) and the picture quality is grainy and ghosty, but it's good enough for me. ;D

Somebody told me something similar when I got married.

After the funny Flynn and Provenza episode, we get a very sad and disturbing one...

Part of the greatness of the show is that from one week to the next, we never know what the overall tone is going to be. And, of course, there is sometimes comedy contained in even the darkest episodes.

I've had a nice afternoon of viewing.

I began with last night's MY LIFE ON THE D-LIST, and it was very funny. I was, of course, shocked about the papparazi swirling around those places in LA. The sheer numbers of them are pretty terrifying. No wonder the celebrities that get their attention get so numbed by the fame thing after a time.

My ROMANCE/ROMANCE is similarly grainy and awful, but my A LITTLE NIGHT MUSIC is pretty good. I've never transferred either to DVD. One of these days I must do that, especially NIGHT MUSIC. That ROMANCE/ROMANCE is just such poor video quality that I don't like watching it, and DVD would only accentuate its flaws.

Next, I finished skimming though yesterday's AS THE WORL TURNS. It did have some nice Luke-Noah moments. They've made Noah much more settled and less mopey now, so it's less frustrating to watch. (The actor must have whiplash from all the jerks the writers have put his character through.) They were not in the previews for today's show.

Then I started on SOUTH PARK - Season 11. I've watched 7 episodes thus far, and only one was less than wonderful, a lesbian takeoff on '300.' All of the others contained moments that were really fall down funny. One on Hillary Clinton was very ribald but hilarious, too.

The creeators/writer/director Trey Parker and Matt Stone do mini-commentaries on all the episodes. They usually only run 5-10 minutes at the front of the episode before they get bored with talking. But they make for interesting listening to hear where their heads are at, where they got the ideas for the shows, etc.

There are only three more episodes on disc 2 (which I'm on now), so I should have no problem finishing them tonight. That will leave Disc 3 (and writing up the review) for tomorrow.

Well, I wouldn't have given it to Holly Hunter for that role either, but I would have voted for Emma Thompson in THE REMAINS OF THE DAY.

I would have considered that to be an honorable loss.

I haven’t watched Burn Notice yet & look forward to Nate’s return.

It seems to be old home week over at Facebook.  In the past three days, I've heard from my college freshman year roommate, my sophomore year roommate, and two long lost college acquaintances!

How fun!

Bye for now!

Last night, while at a neighborhood (3 houses worth) gathering, we were informed JOURNEY TO THE CENTER OF THE EARTH is not being shown in 3-D in our neck of the woods.  I'm very glad we found out ahead of time.  As disappointed as I am, I would have been upset to discover this AFTER purchasing a ticket.

I'm heading down now to tend to a few household chores (but not mopping the kitchen floor; I did mthat this morning), and then I'll get back to some viewing.

I got the HD version of PATRIOT GAMES recorded from the Universal-HD channel which I want to watch tonight once I finish with the second disc of SOUTH PARK. That should take me right up to PSYCH.
