Very hot this afternoon, hotter than they predicted. I doubt it'll cool off before I go to bed this evening (unless we have rain which is not in the forecast).

I began my afternoon viewing with last night's LAW & ORDER: CRIMINAL INTENT. Excellent story but sad. The value some people put on the lives of others is simply appalling.

Then, I finished INTERVIEW WITH A VAMPIRE from Showtime-HD. It is a definitely step up from the sDVD, but I'll think long and hard at the price when the Blu-ray goes on sale in October. I'm not sure it's a movie I revisit often enough to warrant a repurchase.

I sped through today's AS THE WORLD TURNS. Nothing of interest for me in the show or previews.

I was going to start MAD MEN which I recorded from regular AMC last night, but just as a lark, I looked at the HD On Demand, and last night's episode was ALREADY THERE!

So, I began watching last night's MAD MEN in HD! Looks to be a good episode, but I only saw about 15 minutes of it. I'll complete it when I go back down.

Then, I plan to watch TRANSFORMERS tonight while recording THE CLOSER. Once I finish the movie, I'll watch THE CLOSER and speed through the commercials.

Cautious optimism in the medical department:  Today is the first day in 2 months that I haven't thought my left foot would be swollen forever.  Of course, I've been pretty much off my feet now for about 24 hours - that may have something to do with it.

DR Elan, thank you for defending me. It was very kind.

I'm bummed that I'll miss THE CLOSER and be dependent on its rerun before next week's episode. I have to step out tonight to see my beloved Donna Lynne Champlin's FINISHING THE HAT at 7 pm tonight. I doubt I'll be back before 9:30.

DR Ben, yes! We must set a date for the Mitchell Trio. Perhaps this Saturday night?

TNT does replay the evening's THE CLOSER in the early morning hours, too, though I'm not sure when. I guess you don't want to record it and probably won't be up that late.

I was supposed to have a visitor today around 2:30. He just called to say he'd be here closer to 5! That's SOME delay!

In the mail today was the review copy of the Blu-ray version of CAMP ROCK.

Boy, Disney didn't waste any time getting that to the market. It comes out next Tuesday (19th).

My understanding is that Disney is trying to release as much teen and tween-oriented material now in order to give the theatrical release of "High School Musical 3" some breathing room.  -They've even announced closing dates for the "High School Musical" stage shows in the park over the next couple of weeks.  It's all about saturation.

Any NYC DRs planning to see (or have seen) Hair in Central Park?  Richard and I were just talking about, if the Saturday we're in the City is like it is here today (weather-wise) we just might try that experience.  Do you just stand in line to get tickets?  How early do you have to get there?

It would probably be easier for you to go to the Central Park line than to go all the way down to the Public. A friend saw it and said his line wait was not so long. He got into line in the mid-morning (he didn't say what time) and he easily got two tickets. He said it was lots of fun but some of the creaks do show.

I will try to see it before I leave but I don't know if I will be able to work out the dates.

Since we've mentioned both Aimee Semple McPherson and Agnes Moorehead, this tribute site seems quite a propos:

Thanks for the insights, DR Ben.  I think we'll leave Saturday open and keep an eye on the weather forecast.  If it looks too hot/humid or rainy, we'll find indoor things to do.

Of course, Miss Geraldine Page played a variation on Aimee Semple McPherson in THE DAY OF THE LOCUST. . .

Well, DR Ben, Richard and I have a few creaks of our own, so we should fit right in!  I saw Hair on tour in Ann Arbor and Richard tried to see it in London, but couldn't get a ticket.  Wonder if we should wear our bell-bottoms?

DR Ginny, stay off your foot as much as possible so the swelling goes ALL THE WAY DOWN!!!

I'm feeling somewhat better today.  I'm not hiking, instead I'm using my energy to dust, do laundry & even helped Keith outside a bit.

DR George, did your ears burn? Laurel Masse and I briefly discussed you. I think I may be doing 4-5 holiday charts for her.  She seems a very lovely lady with a great sense of humor.

When I waited for tickets to ON THE TOWN in the Park, I took a book and arrived around 6 am. I was not the first in line.

I didn't sleep well last night.  I was sleeping at six this morning when a painful cramp in my calf woke me up.  I must have hopped out of bed thousands of times in order to work out a bad cramp & never have I fallen.  Down I went, smack!  I scared the heck out of Keith & then he couldn't hear me respond as my face was in the carpet, which scared him even more.

I know how I fell, it hurt too much to get my foot flat on the ground.  What I can't figure out, cuz it happened so fast, was how I worked out the worst of the cramp.  Hey, I'm grateful I did, just surprised.

Of course I landed on my right hand, wrist & arm.  I stayed in bed a couple of hours, dosing on and off, with a cold pack.
