Anti-hell vibes to Edi

Instead of having wine, we went for a 3 mile walk. Not as tasty as a glass of vino but probably better for me since I've worked late the last 3 nights.

I have a few odds and ends to tie up on the computer and then I'll be heading down to go to bed.

We had another soft rain tonight, so once again it's cool and the windows and doors are open to cool down the house. Delightful!

Good night!

Then Steve and I will be heading down to Charlottesville for the afternoon and evening.  The Richmond Men's Chorus is having their summer retreat - a.k.a. winery tour and barbecue - and I shall be tagging along for the festivities.  And it looks like it should be a very nice weather-wise too.

Ah...there is lots of good wine around those parts. I moved to Atlanta from Charlottesville (Crozet actually) and after all these years I still miss it.

I don't expect to be opening the windows until October.

It'll be on DVD next month!

I would still try to see it on a big screen. The images are so beautiful it would be hard to get the full impact on a tv screen. (Well, maybe on bk's tv screen...)

Spoo!

Back again for just a moment. I guess others have read already that Warners is postponing the release of HARRY POTTER AND THE HALF BLOOD PRINCE from November to next summer. Seems they didn't have anything BIG ready for next summer to match their big guns from this summer, so POTTER gets moved.

It's my favorite book in the series, so I was really looking forward to the film this fall and am sorely disappointed.

I definitely would love to see it in a theater, but it's not playing anywhere near here. :-\

Hard to believe since it's such a heavenly show.   ;)

BTW, I despised the moronic critical comments on the show in this week's EW. Very unfair to the show and ridiculous amount of praise for the overheated, irritating SAVING GRACE.

Oh no...I didn't read that. What did they say?

It's still doing really well in the ratings, even against the Olympics!

At least the episode I'm preparing to start sees the return of Brenda's parents. I love them!

My goodness, it is 88 degrees inside my home environment, and that is with fans going in every room plus window fans.

Maybe I will see two movies at the theater tomorrow.

My DMIL is "as well as can be expected" & we are to be patient.  That tells us a lot.

It sure does: either you should be patient, she'll die soon or, be patient she'll be better soon. How clever of the staff to offer "hope" to all concerned, regardless of their expectations. (Of course, in either case, are you not relieved of concern.)

... I was reminded that back when these shows were filmed there were usually two gas stations on every corner of every street in the Valley.  Now you're lucky if you can find one within a mile on a major street, sometimes two miles.

That is because the retail gasoline market is not very profitable (high prices notwithstanding). In fact, many places loose money on the gas but make their profit on the mini-stores attached. Exxon-Mobil has decided to sell their retail outlets because of the poor profit picture.

Maybe there is more to the story:

HARRY POTTER SCARED BY HORSE

Quote
A naked Harry Potter has scared off the movie "Harry Potter."

Warner Bros. has announced moving its sixth Potter film, "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince," from Nov. 21, 2008, to July 17, 2009. The reason? Officially, there is no reason, except that "a spot opened on the summer schedule."

That's not much of a reason. The real story? Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe will be right in the middle of his sensational, highly publicized run on Broadway in the play, "Equus." Radcliffe appears naked in the play, on stage, and has sex in it as well. That's not the image Warner Bros. wants associated with bespectacled Harry, who remains chaste and virginal.

Indeed, posters for Equus are up all over New York, of Radcliffe's naked torso superimposed on a horse's head. This is not the sort of thing that's taught at Hogwarts. For the movie to open on Nov. 21, Radcliffe would have to do publicity entailing answering questions about blinding horses and having sex with them vs. flying around and making potions.

Warner Bros. does not want this scenario. By the time "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince" debuts, "Equus" will either have concluded its run or Radcliffe will have completed his contract. And there will be little mention of any horsing around.

Other news items have the producer's blaming the writers' strike.

Tonight, I watched last night's episode of "Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D-List" and tonight's episode of "Psych."  I love both of these shows.  I really hope that "D-List" comes back next year. :)

Notes from the Woods:   Evidently my job as the Asst. MD is to protect the integrity of notes, rhythms and words as the MD seems to miss most of the mistakes.  Don't get me started.... However, the following scenario happened in rehearsal:

Cinderella:  When we entered I trumpeted
Me: (corrects the lyric) - cast and Cinderella chuckle
Narrator says:  Well, on Broadway now, you could probably enter trumpeting as everyone is playing instruments these days.

About 1/3 of the cast laughed, the other 2/3 looked confused, the MD got bent as he didn't get the joke.

See what I deal with????    :P
