Got hot very quickly, much to my dismay. But if the nights and mornings continue to be cool, I can last until fall.

I began my afternoon watching an OLD NCIS episode from season 4, the one where McGee's sister is suspected of murder. I was tempted to go ahead and open the next box set and get going with it, but I'll do that tomorrow.

I spent a delightful afternoon with THE NIGHTMARE BEFORE CHRISTMAS. First, the stop motion animation as seen in Blu-ray is astonishing. Since it's a three dimensional world they're animating, the clarity and depth of high definition make it as close to 3-D as it's possible to get away from actual 3-D.

The movie is one that has had to grow on me over the years. Like NASHVILLE (which I was also lukewarm about when I first saw it), NIGHTMARE now is totally delightful and so creative, but when I first saw it, it just seemed creepy and weird. Original, certainly, but the music was dissonant and it just didn't thrill me. I did buy the first (nonanamorphic) DVD and watched it fairly often over the years finally getting its jokes and enjoying the Kurt Weill-like music a lot more.

In high definition, it's now one of the best films available on Blu-ray, and there is a Dolby TrueHD 7.1 soundtrack that is mind-boggling in its creation. They're finally given the movie the release it's always deserved.

iPod is playing away - currently shuffle play and now playing Dave Grusin's great main title for Mulholland Falls.  Terrible movie, with one of Grusin's best scores.

I began watching the bonus features on the disc. I began with a 7 minute HD trip through THE HAUNTED MANSION when it's transformed into Halloweentown with characters form the movie. There is also a pop up trivia mode you can turn on while going on the tour of the ride.

Next is Christopher Lee reading Tim Burton's original poem version of the story with concept art animated. This is also done in high definition with a Dolby DIgital soundtrack. The original poem sounds very much in the mode of Dr. Seuss and is the basic story without characters like Sally and Oogie Boogie to flesh out the story.

They've created a new commentary with Tim Burton, director Henry Selick, and composer Danny Elfman participating. Very enjoyable pieced-together commentary (all recorded separately).

I did skim through today's AS THE WORLD TURNS. Nothing of interest. Nothing in the previews either though we do see the return of Luke's real father.

My analysis of my plants: blossom end rot.

If it is on the tomatoes, it is probably the result of a calcium deficiency - the plants, not you.

Media check (amended) - I will be listening in the car to The House of Mirth, after all.  It was shelved with the print books to be picked up, not with AV materials.

Well...I don't actually "watch" them all the way through.  I ususally just fast-forward through them until I get to scenes with people who are nice to look at. ;)

My friend Gregg is in town tonight, so we're going to be going out to supper when he arrives. Don't know how much I'll get to see tonight on TV. I've set the DVR to capture both MONK and PSYCH for later viewing, though I'd be surprised if Gregg is still around when PSYCH comes on. Still, I have to finish up with the bonuses on NIGHTMARE BEFORE CHRISTMAS before I can think of watching any TV shows.

I thought that now that she had finished her degree, she was going to be back here posting with a vengeance!

She arrived a day or so before her birthday, and she last posted a day or so after her birthday.

It's becoming a ritual for the E&T.

It truly helps to make a mental note of these things so as not to anguish over them.

And now it's time to walk off the single dip of frozen custard I just had - which I think just ended up being the regular Chocolate and not the Chocolate Peanut - I think. ???

So, DR PennyO, is the person at the computer to your right dealing drugs and the person to your left pimping?  We had a nice lady complain to one of my coworkers about just such a scenario here in our library not long ago.

If someone was pimping in Monroe, it would be for a horse.

Usually, but for some reason, I haven't gotten this CD, yet.  I do like it, so I probably will.
