Good Evening!
So... I ventured here and there once again today. However, instead of heading to Shake Shack for the Cookies & Cream Frozen Custard - I've had that before - I headed down to the East Village to check out a place called "Sundaes and Cones". A friend of mine had tipped me off to it, and once I read some of the blurbs about it, I guess I had read about it before. In any case...
A couple of the "reviews" commented on the very austere and stark design of the place, well... I guess it is, but, to my eyes, it just looked very streamlined and clean - lots of white. But, of course, one does not go to a place called "Sundaes and Cones" to look at the decor.
I settled on a scoop of their Guava and a scoop of their Taro Root. Both flavors were quite yummy. A bunch of the reviews mentioned how they featured "strange and exotic" flavors like Black Sesame, Red Bean, Taro Root, etc. Well, I guess I was expecting some truly strange and exotic flavors since nothing in the case really shocked me. I mean, Red Bean, Taro and Black Sesame are "traditional" Japanese and Chinese ice cream flavors, and even Green Tea ice cream is more or less mainstream now. (Right?) In any case...
The scoops were very generous, the flavors bright and clean, and the price very right - $4.75.

*Oh, I did sample their
Wasabi Ice Cream... Whoa! -Now that was a new one for me, and the sample was just enough. If I want some spicy heat in my ice cream, I'll still to the "Wicked" Chocolate from Jean-Jacques, or the Aztec from Marie-Belle.
