Good Afternoon!

Well, no Central Park for me this afternoon (yet?). However, it appears the lighting they have in Chelsea Market works very well for picture taking even though it may seem a bit dark. ;)

DR Jeanne - It has been quite the mild summer here in New York City too. Yes, we had a "bad" week back in July, but, overall, it's been very nice. Summery, but not too summery.

I am currently at the Apple Store in Chelsea/Meatpacking District where it seems they just ran out of iPhones for the day. -And the hair product is flying! ;)

Hello, all.  I'm at home, eating a (formerly frozen) pizza.  I set the timer to 15 minutes, even though the directions said 18-20 minutes.  Even at 15 minutes, it was too over-done. :-\ It's really only the edges that have the worst of it, but I don't have to eat that.  And it'll reheat very nicely for dinner.

Just had to share. :)

I'm a little tired and a lot hungry, but it's still four hours to dinner.  Bobby Deerfield is not getting better - I think what I must have liked about it was its score and photography.

I do remember being very amused at Marthe Keller's pronunciation of "boring" which comes out "bowing."

I laughed, and laughed, and then laughed some more at HAMLET 2, which is set in the land where you go when your dreams die: Tucson, AZ, home of my Aunt Rene and Uncle Jay ad several DRs. The movie is really raunchy and rude although I think the production number "Rock Me, Sexy Jesus" transcends it and becomes theatre of the absurd. I had a great time.  There are some very funny things - the Tucson Gay Men's chorus providing the music, Elizabeth Shue playing herself as an unemployed actress finding happiness as a nurse - and it gets crazier from there.

Now I'm back to Christmas music.

Probably...it normally does cook a little hotter than instructions indicate, but this was more "off" than usual.

I'm just catching up on yesterday's posts.

RE: the olympics. DRs Jrand and Cillaliz were talking about diving being a shocker. Was that the men's 10m platform results?  I watched that too.  I thought for sure that chinese guy was gonna win!

As for DR jose saying i would happy about one of the results. I was trying to figure out what you were referring to???

Maybe Adam Van Koeverdan our flagbearer?  If so actually i was really disappointed. He completely blew his first race. And got overtaken in his last. :(

I would say of all the medals we won, the one that excited me the most was eric lamaze's equestrian jumping.  That jump off was very exciting!

I also really liked both diving medals!

Finished SHAKE, RATTLE AND ROCK...not such a great movie, even by AIP standards...Touch and Lisa had very little to do in the film, while Raymond Hatton and Margaret Dumont stole the limelight from the other players.

And for JRand's benefit, I won't even mention Sterling Holloway.

I do not know what time Kenny will be in town so I will start another movie...maybe Julius LaRosa in LET'S ROCK or Judy Tyler in BOP GIRL...or, since there are several police cars in the alley behind my house I could watch ROOKIE COP.

DR MBarnum wait till you watch what has transpired on BIG BROTHER. They have already done the hoh, noms and power of veto. IT's all very interesting! (although tonight we most likely won't get veto stuff).

I went to the circus today. Well like an hour of it. My niece did not like it and asked to leave. And half the time i was there i spent walking outside with her since she said she was scared and did not want to stay inside the tent (luckily we were in the front row).

The funny thing is on her way out she said "the circus was great".

Maybe she meant the snow cone, cotton candy and dora balloon! :)

I have to make reese peanut butter cups. My sister's niece asked if i would make them for her (today) but i did not have any milk choc chips (only semi sweet). So i told her i would make them for her in 2 weeks when she comes back.

And my niece (who will turn 3) asked if i would make her muffins for her birthday. Usually she prefers blueberry. But she asked for banana. I guess i will make them for her in a few weeks) so she can have them on her birthday.

If you watch BOP GIRL, DR MBarnum, you'll be seeing the work of one of Rodgers & Hammerstein's leading ladies. . .

I forgot to mention that Jayne Mansfield has a small role (as a brunette!) in Pete Kelly's Blues.  She's the cigarette girl in the club.

I will? I guess this is a quality type movie!

And I was slightly incorrect on the title...it is BOP GIRL GOES CALYPSO. Bobby Troupe is in it, and he is about the most boring leading man ever....particularly when paired up with the vivacious Judy Tyler.

I am loving me some Mary Kaye Trio!

Sadly BOP GIRL GOES CALYPSO's leading lady, Judy Tyler, would die in a tragic car accident, along with her husband, on a Wyoming freeway before this film even reached theaters.

Sadly, Judy's Rodgers & Hammerstein show, PIPE DREAM, was one of their few flops.
I really like the score -  A LOT! - I think that the show could work well with a better book, going back to John Steinbeck's characters on CANNERY ROW. . .

I've had to watch Bobby Deerfield in tiny doses - it's not going down easily.  I've got about thirty minutes left.  Dreary beyond belief, and the Marthe Keller character is so obnoxious, yet Bobby, frustrated as he is, just keeps going after her just because she's - well, I'll leave it at that.
