I've always been fond of Jack Jones' Wives & Lovers.

I realize I have been remiss in conveying some sad news.  Tewkesbury, our foundling pup, that has been with us for several years had to be put down last week.  About a year and a half ago, he had been diagnosed with incurable kidney disease.  He defied the predictions and, for a long time, was the healthiest dying dog around...even though he was on a special diet and getting fluids twice a week (these last few months three times a week).  But it was obvious, in these last weeks, he was slowing down.  After a rather horrible night, where he was in great pain that no medication seem to quell, we made the fateful decision to spare him any further suffering.  The doctor came to the house and gently spirited him away.  The next day, we had him cremated and his ashes now reside in our pet shrine next to all our other beloved pets who've passed on.  RIP, Tewkes!

That's very sad. When my mother had to put our basset hound to sleep she cried for a week.

The next time someone says, "Be still my beating heart", offer them one of these:

Krispy Kreme cheddar bacon cheeseburgers at the Google cafeteria (NYC)

I know they're heart attacks waiting to happen, but damn if they don't look tasty to me!

Heading down now to check the mail and then line up something to cook for lunch. Then on to the trials and tribulations of Melinda Gordon.

Confused Woman Goes Down Baggage Chute at Swedish Airport

STOCKHOLM (AFP) - An elderly woman misunderstood instructions while checking in at Sweden's main airport and was whisked down a baggage shoot after she placed herself instead of her luggage on the belt, media reported Wednesday.

The 78-year-old woman, who was not named, was preparing to fly from Stockholm's Arlanda airport to Germany on Tuesday when she lay down on an unmanned baggage belt in the belief she was following check-in instructions, the Upsala Nya Tidning local daily reported on its website.

She was quickly swept off to the baggage handling centre, where staff members helped get her back on her feet.

The woman suffered no serious injury and caught her flight as planned.

I know you weren't looking for sympathy, Ron, but I do understand how you feel. It's always sounded to me that you come from a fine family, with lots of love and support. I'm glad you have a long weekend and hope you can do something you enjoy.

Steve Lawrence's GO AWAY LITTLE GIRL is a classic if I ever heard one. Many fine recodings from all three singers.

Jennifer,
ARNICA is good for sprains and strains, esp when they're new. I'd also suggest a hot bath with Epsom salts.

I'm up.  It still looks a little overcast outside.  I'll try to start jogging in about forty-five minutes.

I want to do something fun today.

In anticipation of the rest of a lovely weekend, I've baked a chocolate cake.

Only thing is, I ain't got no 'nilla ice cream to eat with it!

Friday was an odd day off.

I am not writing this to solicit vibes of sympathy.

My Aunt Fanny lived a long, productive life and she was a very good woman -- as a sister, as a wife, as a mother and as an aunt.

Of course not.

You gave your aunt a beautiful tribute & expressed much of what I have been feeling these last couple of weeks.

TOD:

All three are fine singers, with Jack Jones being my favorite of the bunch.

However, since Druxy mentioned Allen Jones...well, he is one of my all time favorites!

However, I cannot think of any favorite songs from any of them at the moment.

I'm not sure I'm ready to jog yet.  But, the one thing I cannot do is procrastinate too long.  I might wait another few minutes to see if the overcast burns off.

Do you loan out Keith?

Except for WHITE CHRISTMAS, I don't think anyone does Christmas songs like Nat King Cole.

An attempt at a small TOD list.

Nat King Cole, one of my all time favorite singers:
Mona Lisa
A Portrait Of Jenny
Christmas songs
When I Fall In Love

Jack Jones, one of the best concerts I’ve ever enjoyed.  He was funny, cute & his voice was beautiful:
Lollipops and Roses
Wives and Lovers
Love With the Proper Stranger

Steve Steve, a nice voice but I never had an urge to purchase his albums or see him in concert:
Go Away Little Girl

Jennifer,
ARNICA is good for sprains and strains, esp when they're new. I'd also suggest a hot bath with Epsom salts.

That's not the one i have. I have (i'm pretty sure) rhus toxicodendron. I probably wouldn't use it unless i checked first to make sure this would be good for muscles.

As for seeing a doctor. I don't think i would at this point. It's not constant or terrible pain. It's just a bit inflamed. and it had almost gone away until last night when it was bugging me. But it felt find all night rested.

I am icing it now.

DR Jeanne, if you know if the above would work please let me know. Although on answers.com it says it is for inflammed muscles.
