There were two bonus featurettes on disc three. One had to do with a special effects shot in the episode where Joe invents the solar mirror device. CAlled "Joe's Crayon Dream" it's an interesting behind the scenes look at how they did it with green screen and animated loops.

Had a nice delivery in the mail today: my comp copies of the September issue of VIDEO WATCHDOG featuring my interview with actor Rodd Dana star of many an Italian spy film and spaghetti western (aka Robert Mark).

For those interested (if any) it should be on store shelves any day now.

The other was a 9-minute featurette on Anjelica Huston's sojourn on the show this past season, and how different it was doing TV instead of movies.

And along with the comp copies, I also got a nice fat check from the magazine!

I have three more episodes to watch, and there are a couple more featurettes on disc 4 to watch. I should have some time tonight to watch something fun, but I may not be able to do an entire movie. It might have to be some TV episodes from some box sets I purchased for myself (THE OFFICE, GET SMART, etc.)

DR dB - I am not necessarily supportive of "the anarchists."

However, I am curious as to what you feel should be done to those who illegally authorize the surveillance of American citizens, who authorize the breaking of the Geneva Convention and the torture of prisoners, who neglect American victims of the largest natural disaster in US history, who have politicized the Justice Department beyond all recognition, and who flout Congress through the spurious and unprecendented use of "signing statements"?

These issues are still working their way through the court system, but in brief:

I think the government should have unlimited acess to monitor electronic communications.

The Geneva convention does not apply to non-uniformed irregulars captured on a battlefield - we are not technical at war, so there are no POWs.

The Katrina mess was just poor management - not criminal conduct; more than enough blame to go around.

Most members of the Justice department serve at the will of the President - he doesn't need a reason to not renew an appointment.

I'll pass on signing statements and torture.

"The Legend of 1900" is a favourite but maybe it was USA financed.

Most of the English language films I really like would be non-USA!

Politics - can't live with it, can't live with it.  I'm sure you'll get a response, though one you'll probably not like.  All the points you bring up are valid, have a point, are specific, and are true.  Others can bob and weave and even george and weave around them - they can feignt to the left or probably to the right, they can have all manner of answers, but none of these points in this post can be refuted.

Signing off now to continue my workday at a nearby church, where I'm the guest speaker at a meeting of folks who run school/church partnership programs.

When I get home, our DS and his girlfriend will be there,  home from their week in Michigan with her family.

Bye for now ('til tomorrow, probably)!

SQUAT down as comfortably as you can go, leaning forward slightly too if possible.

LOOK towards the camera, craning your neck as much as you comfortably can. Then have the photographer shoot your face.

The trick is getting the photographer at DMV to take a photo this way for a driver's license.

Actually, many of my political friends are appalled at my leftest positions on many issues; including:

Abortion
Immigration
Death Penalty
Public Education
Drugs
Doctor assisted suicide
Religion in the public square
Gun Control

On most political position surveys, I score left of center!

Der Brucer, you are certainly correct in that we are not at war...and I wish the media and others would stop calling it the "War in Iraq." Or worse yet, "The War with Iraq."

I am sure many could find a more appropriate title for why we are in Iraq.

Along with my poster from REPORTER RAJU, I also go this poster from a nifty Bollywood film noir titled AAR PAAR.

I actually wasn't all that crazy about the film (I still haven't finished watching it), but the poster is absolutely beautiful, I think.

Bill Melendez, animator, has died at age 91.  Probably best known to folks here as the man who brought "Peanuts" to life on TV.
