OK... Part Whatever of Today's Cleaning is about to commence.  The City is having an Electronic Recycling and "Gently-Used" Clothing Drop-Off tomorrow at Columbia University.  So, once I set aside a couple of things, that will leave me with less to dust.  ;)

And you can take the Metro right to Mall to get to the WWII Memorial.  -Unless you really want to deal with parking in DC.  ;)

No, I don't want to deal with parking in DC, but is there a place that would be closer where I could park on a Sunday and take the metro?  I can leave he car here, but then it will be the metro ride all the way back to Bethesda to get the car.  What to do.....

;D  If I were going there today the test would be free.  All the extra money would be spent having fun.

There is an Original House of Pancakes in Bethesda, which unfortunately was never open when I could go.  Maybe that was a good thing I could go eat a million calories.

There is a nice Indian restaurant in the downtown area.

When I checked in I got a huge list of restaurants in Bethesda.  I've decided with all the work I have to do that I"m not going to try to go to ACE or do too much sight seeing, BUT, I should have time to go to some of the restaurants in the area.  I like to eat seafood when I'm near a coast.  I'm thinking about The Bethesda Crab House.  Any suggestions from anyone. I do have a car, so it doesn't have to be walking distance from the hotel. I would like to stay in the area though.

Library Tip for the Day:

When you call Telephone Reference for information, please turn down the volume on your radio/TV/baby.  If I wanted to listen to Rush Limbaugh, I'd stay home and do so.

I've noticed that people who listen to Rush Limbaugh usually do it with the volume turned way up.  What's with that?

Too bad you can't take the trip to the memorial when you aren't going anywhere else.

Ok, break is about over...I'm getting close to getting this silly thing done.  Think I'll check on the hours of the business center. If I can get to a printer early in the morning, I can finish this up tonight.

LOL, I really love the people who work at this hotel.  As long as I have my key I can work in the business center any time I want to...even the middle of the night if I feel so inclined.  SO, that gives me some breathing room. I'll have it ready before class in the morning, no sweat.

I don't think the volume needs to be turned up for Limbough, he speaks very loudly to begin with.

Oh, I'll be back here again sometime. If I don't get there, I don't get there. This is really a working trip that I'm trying to squeeze in some play time. Unfortunately work interferred with me being totally prepared before I got here so I need to work while I'm here or I won't get that much out of it.

Oy, it's been a home improvement morning.  I have gotten a bid on a new patio door, repaired our fence where Blanche pushed a board out and also replaced a broken window pane.

Matthew, are you listening?  ;)

I've actually had a great afternoon, working, listening to CNN talk about the hurricaine. Hanging out in my slippers, and comfy clothes.  Answering a few emails about clients back home.

Back from the long jog.  Not that easy today.  And I might as well have done it earlier because the overcast skies look like they're here to stay today.

My problem, poached egg-wise, is that I'll have to go sit in a restaurant to have them, and I'm just not sure I want to do that.

I don't eat poached eggs but I'm under the impression they are very easy to cook.

RE: THE WONDERFUL WORLD OF THE BROTHERS GRIMM.

I am definitely not holding my breath for Warners to do ANYTHING with it. The film was never a big hit to begin with and really hasn't developed any kind of real cult following in the decades since. I find real entertainment value in it, but I think I'm in the minority.

The last time some of the home video people did a Warner chat and were asked about it, they claimed flat out that the movie would require too much costly restoration to make it a viable proposition. That was a couple of eyars ago, but I doubt much has changed since then. The print TCM shows is as lackluster and flat as the laserdisc was.

I began my afternoon watching the bonus features on LA RONDE. Pretty good. I especially enjoyed a correspondence fro Laurence Olivier to the son of the original playwright asking for permission to perform the play at the National Theater and getting a firm no from him. Sometimes all the Oscars and titles and world recognition can't get you what you want.

Poached eggs:
Combine 1 1/2 inches water (about 2 quarts) and 1 tsp. vinegar in a wide 3-quart heavy saucepan (preferably about 9 inches wide) and bring to a simmer.

Break 1 egg into a small bowl or cup and slide egg into water. Repeat with each remaining egg, spacing them evenly in saucepan, and poach at a bare simmer until whites are firm and yolks are still runny, 2 to 3 minutes. Transfer eggs as cooked to paper towels using a slotted spoon.

The commentary was very similar to what White did on THE EARRINGS OF MADAME DE... Good, full of information and analysis but a little too much description of what's on the screen.

Oh, I forgot that I did watch another episode of THE OFFICE while I cooked and ate lunch. This was the one with the launch party for the new website with Dwight's desperate plan to sell more paper than the computer site can sell. Also featured the kidnapping of the pizza delivery boy who wouldn't give Michael the discount on his pizzas. Very funny stuff.

Actually, I just did a little research and found out that Meltz and Ernest wrote a song about a poached egg:

Beer comes with kegs
Feet come with legs
But I come for one thing
And that's poached eggs

On toast or a muffin
I am not bluffin'
An egg that is poached
Cannot be reproached

When in the dregs
All of me begs
For that dish of dishes
Lovely poached eggs

You can make with the jokes
But I'll take poached yolks
Like a hit movie, poached eggs have legs
So, you keep your scrambled
Sorry if I've rambled
Just give me some now - poached eggs!
