Laugh Riot at the Mammogram Office...

Wasn't that a play by Tom Stoppard?

I have nothing to watch this weekend.

 :'(

I'm in Austin, TX, and the hotel room doesn't have a DVD player.

It also has the worst internet signal in the world.  Every 5 minutes I get knocked off the net.

So, maybe I'll go to a movie.

Here's one for the books.

The hotel (Comfort Suites) is on Time Warner Cable.

Time Warner is having some sort of dispute with NBC, thus it is not carrying the NBC network...at all.

No LAW & ORDER.  No TONIGHT SHOW.  Nothing.

I'm told that this is the situation for the entire state of Texas.

Unbelievable!

Good morning!

It's overcast and we may get rain today. Otherwise, it's moderately cool, but it isn't getting out of the low 70s today, so that will help.

As I mentioned last night, my friend Hal and I are going to participate in early voting today. Having never done it, I have no idea how long the lines will be. They were very long yesterday according to the newspaper. We'll see.

Must just be a Time-Warner Texas thing. I have Time-Warner, and NBC programming comes in just fine here.

Good morning, all! The payment transfer landed in my bank this morning. The bad news is because of the hold up I lost nearly $100 on overdrawn fees, which really pisses me off. Once the rent check is turned over today, the account is back down to nothing, which has me hopong that the singer who asked for a new copy of my invoice on Sept 27 will send me a few bucks. The irony is, from the way he was talking on Sept 27, I thought he was going to pay off the balance.

I'm also hoping that the property closing happens ASAP. but this Ohio property is becoming a real albatross, and I wish my dad had sold it before his death.

Today, the landlord's office, then the pharmacy, and then the NYPL at Lincoln Center. After that, THE MOST HAPPY FELLA.

TOD:
DVD:  too many things, in particular Season 1 of LIFE
CD: Guy Haines, Babes In Toyland, several Jerome Kern scores, La belle au bois dormant ballet
     VCR: artistic anthropological studies

I had meant to comment on LIFE ON MARS, which is such an essentially unhappy premise that I fnd it hard to watch although I love the cast - I've known Michael Imperioli for 20 years or more since he was a student at Stella Adler's - but this violence between Keitel and O'Mara is too bizarre. I like the trippy neighbor, but I think she's essentially there to establish the openness of the early 1970s and the frankness of casual sex and drugs. I had a college friend who drove a taxi in 1972, and he was always bringing home passengers for threesomes with him and his girlfriend. I must say, though, that the city in the tv show looks nothing like I remember New York to look on my frequent trips during the 1970s.

Good Morning!

I'm up, I'm up... And I'm watching "The Doctors"... Well, I think it should be called the "If You Watch This Show You Will Realize That You Are Unhealthy In Some Way Or Fashion".  -Accompanied by the big "gloom and doom" music cue.

DR elmore - ...On the bright side, just remember you've lost 24 pounds (and counting), and you can see again with your new glasses.  Just remember to breathe... And keep making those "reminder" phone calls.  Then breathe again. ;)

Well, maybe not all of Texas...

NBC Stations Will Ditch Time Warner Cable Unless They See Some Cash

Quote
This may sound familiar to some of you, as the same struggle is going on all over the country, where other stations owned by KXAN's parent company, LIN TV, will also be dropped from TWC on October 2nd if a deal isn't reached.

There are 15 LIN TV-owned stations carried by Time Warner: Austin, Texas; Buffalo, N.Y.; Columbus, Ohio; Dayton, Ohio; Fort Wayne, Ind.; Green Bay, Wis.; Indianapolis; Mobile, Ala.; Springfield, Mass.; Terre Haute, Ind. and Toledo, Ohio.
