However, I've been reading some of my Twitter and Twinkle feeds, and it's been sort of cool reading "from the line" reports about the voting process so far this morning.  Some of the "tweets" are kind of inspiring - people helping each other out, telling each other stories, etc. - while some are a little worrisome - "It's already 8:00, and I've been in since since 6:00", "I can't believe my district in the Bronx only has one voting machine", etc.

Again, as I sort of mentioned last night, regardless of who wins tonight and takes Office on January 20, 2009, we all have to remember that today is only the beginning of it all.  Only the campaigning and commercials are coming to an end.  (Thank God!)

And, yes, you get a free 12 oz. drip coffee from Starbucks for saying that you voted.  -So, if you happen to have more than one Starbucks in your area... ;)

*And Ben & Jerry's is giving away free scoops/cones between 5:00-8:00 too.

**And, apparently, there's some taco chain in California that is giving away free food today too.

***Oh, and here in NYC and some other places, today you can "Vote & Vax".  You can get a flu vaccination while you're waiting in line.  How convenient! :)

I voted!! Yesterday, early ballot -- dropped off my ballot and DH's ballot at the county box mid-afternoon. Not a coffee drinker, but if Starbuck's offer was for a Chai Tea Latte, I'd take 'em up on it...

Taking a road trip to LA this weekend to see Case in two of the plays in UCLA's New Play Festival. He's loving UCLA -- and staying busy and happy.

Good morning!

It began with overcast skies. Then, the clouds cleared away and we had a bright blue sky. Now, clouds are moving back in and the blue sky has completely disappeared.

I, too, have already voted - two weeks ago, in fact. No matter what happens, I will be DEE-lighted (a Lucy expression) to have an end to the political ads and phone calls for another couple of years.

TOD:

SAVING PRIVATE RYAN

BRIDGES AT TOKO-RI

TWELVE O'CLOCK HIGH

But I'm with several others about the war movie genre. It's my least favorite of all film genres.

I got the review copy of TROPIC THUNDER in the mail yesterday, but I also got the Blu-ray release of Season 3 of SUPERNATURAL, and since SUPERNATURAL comes out on November 11 and TROPIC THUNDER on the 18th, I must get to SUPERNATURAL first. Actually looking forward to it since I enjoy the show so much, and I'm expecting some great visuals on Blu-ray.

Like DR Ginny, when I got to within 30 days of my retirement, I started a backwards countdown. My colleagues would ask me every day how many more days left, and I ALWAYS knew. I loved teaching but I knew I'd love retirement even more, and I have.

It looks like all of my favorite war movies are actually anti-war movies:

It rained during the night for about an hour.  But it looks like the sun's coming out.
