Marley & Me with Jennifer Aniston.....anything I might say would just be cruel and unnecessary.

I enjoyed the movie YENTL.  I am not sure I would ever want to own it, but I wouldn't mind seeing it again.

Mamie disappeared.....might be for the best.

Added a more sedate photo of Ms Van Doren.  Might not be able to hot link to Mamie....

OK, I'm off to buy cookies, chocolate, and soft drinks for my *last* nonprofit brownbag lunch event.

Bye for now!

DR JOSE....you would think she would take the hint if she doesn't ever get hired....maybe next time you could her back her sheet music....crumpled up into a nice tight ball...with relish.  8)

Well, I may have to resort to that since my thumbing through her book looking for another song doesn't seem to do the trick.

I fell in love with THE MOST HAPPY FELLA via the marvelous three lp set from Columbia; I used to take it out of the library quite often.
I was lucky to see an outstanding production of it during the 1970s at Pittsburgh's Civic Light Opera.  It starred the magnificent Leigh Beery and THE GUIDING LIGHT's Don Stewart (also an original cast member of Broadway's CAMELOT).  I liked it so much that I saw that production three times in the course of the week it was playing.

I had SUCH a crush on Don Stewart when I was in college. I watched THE GUIDING LIGHT just for him!

For some reason, my DVR did not record THE CLOSER, so I pulled FUNNY FACE off the shelf and watched about 45 minutes of it. The most recent DVD release is really beautiful and a huge step up from the original DVD.

Well, I need to get ready to head out for the evening.  I have to run a few errands in midtown, and then it's off to dinner, and then to Zankel Hall for Jeremy Denk's recital.

Then I watched WALL-E. I had not seen it in theaters. It never came to my local theater a few blocks from my house, and I didn't drive across town to see it.

Brilliant, imaginative movie. No one really does this kind of original, unusual CGI animated films like Pixar. KUNG FU PANDA which I watched Saturday night was fun, beautifully animated, but the story was rather prosaic.

WALL-E's story was unlike anything I've ever seen before, the animation was terrific, and that sense of timing with visual jokes just sublime.

I got the special features from the first disc watched, but the second Blu-ray disc has two documentaries that are over an hour each, so I saved them for tonight. I did get shorter special features like the deleted scenes watched.

I see that "Marley and Me" is now a movie.   I somehow think I will not bother!

But it stars one of America's top ten movie stars, Jennifer Aniston!  How can you resist?

As Marley?

I agree, Matt.  It was nice to see a version that wasn't all washed out.   "Think Pink" should be pink!!!!!!

It's amazing, isn't it, these Loesser song choices.  He was one of the all-time greats - the Loesser/Callaway idea was mine, and what a pairing it turned out to be - every song on that album is a gem, and the fact that it was my first album for Varese, my first multi-track session, my first mix - it came out incredibly well.  As to Liz herself, I think it's one of the greatest debut albums ever.
Woody has it playing for us now.

How did you afford Liberace as an accompanist?

As long as I don't have to clean it up!

We can get Sven to lick it all off for you.

You got it!

Has anybody told you that Sven is a Saint Bernard?

"And, what does it matter to you, anyways?  You live in Delaware now."

My condolances to all the friends der B and I left in California.  I guess none of you matter any more.  Sorry about that.

Ah, yes, we live in Delaware now. Delaware, where you can still lose your job or your apartment or be denied service  for being gay!

I have no doubt that the dinosaur will be come a treasured possession when he reaches the right age, and he already seems to enjoy holding his monkey.

I had SUCH a crush on Don Stewart when I was in college. I watched THE GUIDING LIGHT just for him!

He was quite a presence on stage as well.  At the opening night party, which the audiences were always invited to, he was charming, modest and sexy as hell.  You would have loved his "Joey, Joey, Joey."

Apparently, 3 people are being interviewed for my job tomorrow.

I'm sure you are a very hard worker, but couldn't you be replaced (work-wise) with just 2 people?

DR Danise, thank you for sharing all the details of your day.

When my ancient kitty passed on, I spent the day doing ritualistic things to memorialize him. (My DH said I would make a good Egyptian!) I hope it was comforting to you and provided you with some closure.

Safe travels as you return to snuggle with Sheena!
