re: SURVIVOR

Survivor was good last night.

I'm curious who people here have as their favorites?

Matty is my favorite.  Randy is my LEAST favorite.  I like Sugar, Bob, Kenny and (sometimes) Crystal.

I think it's hilarious that the big plan Randy had of taking out the remaining members of the opposing tribe has now fallen into the flaming embers.  I only wish Randy had been voted out last night.

Wow, we agree on almost everyone!

Matty (and sugar) are my favorites. I cannot stand randy. And close behind now is corrine. I do like kenny. And sometimes sugar. I am not loving bob. But it's nothing against him. He seems lovely. I don't really care for susie. But i love how she's turned the game around.

I wonder how close it was for sugar to side with randy/charlie/corrine.

It never occured to me that she would side with them. But i forgot she was with them in the beginning. I am not sure if sugar trusts kenny now after all that matty told her. But i hope matty and sugar stay close.

IMO part of the reason she has sucked at physical challenges is because her team was starving. She was on the loser tribe that only ate 8 spoons of rice a day. On that little food i would not be able to perform physically at all. It will be interesting to see if she gets any better now that she has food.
Oh and btw, say what you want about her. but she basically turned the game around last week (by getting marcus to confide in her and then by orchstrating his demise. That was quite impressive. I also thought it was quite surprising the degree of loyalty she showed to kenny.

Nothing like a funeral on a soap opera to bring back a lot(!) of former cast members....  Oh, I'm watching "The Young and the Restless"... :-\  ::)  ;)

Too bad that the wrong person is in the casket!

I saw the show you're describing yesterday (we are a day ahead here). The ending was great. And the ending before the ending was even better!

When the Big Book is written I don't know that anything that I've done will mean all that much, but I can tell you that starting this here site and having it be a gathering place for some of the most amazing people anywhere will be at the top of the list.  Even though there are occasional blowups, the support and good will here sometimes takes my breath away.

re: GHOST WHISPERER

I'm not looking forward to tonight's "Ghost Whisperer."

I don't know why they do what they do with their characters, but I thought the loss of Andrea at the end of season 1 was a seriously bad move.  That character was wonderful I totally detest the misuse of Camryn Manheim in a "nothing role" as the "replacement character."  I despise the way they wrote off the Jay Mohr character early this season..  I loathe the "new" professor on the show (very non-charsimatic).  And absolutely HATE HATE HATE what they've done to David Conrad's role as Melinda's husband.

Something tells me they think Jennifer Love Hewitt is the only character in the show worth maintaining.  I find that idea rather strange since my desire to watch the show has abated seriously in the past year.

If her hubby goes into the light tonight, I'm DONE with the show.

It's weird. I totally agree with most of what you said. Except that i am dying to go watch tonight's show. Even though i hate hate what happened last week.

I hated losing andrea. I hate that camryn manheim is wasted. I hated jay mohr leaving,

I would be furious if jim went into the light too.

I really do not know what will happen. But i did some research last week. And david conrad is staying throughout the entire season (it looks like). And the producers had advised that fans would be satisfied with what they are doing. And i believe jim will have a much bigger part on the show now.

So we shall see. I can't wait to watch now.

DR TCB - I wish the best for both you and your friend, Stan.  And I really do hope that even though the phrase has become somewhat of a cliché lately, even though you cannot be there physically for Stan right now, it truly is the thought that counts.

*And since your system seems to be a bit susceptible right now, it's probably best that you stay away from the hospital right now anyway.

DR Tomovoz - Good to hear that your friend, Allan, is continuing down Recovery Road.

*And just remember: If you happen to need to me to rush down to the ER for you, I will need 14-20 hours notice.  ;)

I forgot (at least I think I forgot) to mention the one positive moment in last night's rush to the ER.  I parked in the parking lot, jumped out of the car, and there in all its glory on the hospital wall was --- me.

Mark Bittman has extensively revised his How To Cook Everything.

The "Tenth Anniversary Edition"?  Has it really been ten years?!?!?!?  WOW!

*I'll probably have to compare the recipe listings from the "revised" editions - the hardback and paperback - and this Anniversary Edition before purchasing this one.  -Or I could just keep going through "The Minimalist" archives on the NY Times' website.  ;)

And since we seem to be in a photo mood...

Besides seeing the operas, "Doctor Atomic" and "Le Damnation de Faust" at The Metropolitan Opera last week, I also happened to see "this":
