I don't know if it's ever been mentioned here, but a book I've been meaning to read since I've first heard of it this summer is MISSISSIPPI SISSY by Kevin Sessums.  It sounds like a real hoot of a book!

IT IS!!!

This calendar was proposed during the French Revolution, and used by the French government for about twelve years from late 1793. There were twelve months of 30 days each, grouped into three ten-day weeks called décades. The five or six extra days needed to approximate the tropical year were placed after the months at the end of each year. A period of four years ending on a leap day was to be called a Franciade. It began at the autumn equinox:

Autumn:
Vendémiaire
Brumaire
Frimaire

Winter:
Nivôse
Pluviôse
Ventôse

Spring:
Germinal
Floréal
Prairial

Summer:
Messidor
Thermidor
Fructidor

It was used for a bit in parts of France and the Pfalz region of Germany. It is an interesting journey to do genealogy research in this area during the French Revolution

But can I delete the messages so I don't accidentally open them?  I don't normally delete things that come in on Facebook.

I have been lucky so far I do have several freinds who did have their accounts hacked.

Good morning all.

Last night, Target.com mistakenly listed a top-of-the-line car seat that normally retails for $279, for $42.99.
it spread across the net like wildfire, and they were sold out in a matter of hours.  Thanks to some postings in my mom forums, i got two of them ordered, with free shipping to boot!  Now Target is legally obligated to honor the price.  :D  Someone in Web Marketing is getting raked over the coals today!

I would not doubt that the marketing person is getting some very strong words.

That happened to me also when a local store was going out of business and they had a misprint in their ad. Liz Claiborne listed for 1.99  of 41.99.... They had to honor it and I got a nice pair of capris and a top for next spring for dirt cheap.

Wow Ann, congratulations.  Who will keep the second car seat?

it means Jed will have one in his car too, so we won't have to move one back and forth.

Smart idea...

..."The Fifth of July" - via PBS's "American Playhouse", thus TV.  I know it's not a gay-themed play, but seeing this a few years before I came out, well...
...
Do you mean the one available from Broadway Theater Archive, with an impossibly young Cynthia Nixon as Richard Thomas' niece?

I watched Studs Turkel's Working earlier today, and Fifth of July was one of the discs listed under "also available".  I think I'm going to hint to der B that we add it to the wish list.

(Working, however, does not have any gay characters, or at least none identifiable as such.  Even though Barry Bostwick is wonderfully woofy as the steelworker.)

Does anyone recall the title of a telly movie with I think, Muriel Hemmingway, that was a lesbian runner?

I can recall women running on a track and then sharing an intimate moment.

Today my therapist added another exercise to my regimen and then put my shoulder and arms through some very uncomfortable stretches before my electroshock session. I have to say, there's definite improvement in the impairment.

Now, I'm off to Rodgers & Hammerstein to drop off a contract for my next job, then to Toyland for several hours, and then to the Village and the Men's Chorus rehearsal: a full agenda.

I forgot MAURICE on my list of favorite movies, and I'd add Edward Swift's comic SPLENDORA to my list of novels.

It was most definitely not a "telly movie", just a movie: "Personal Best".

Yep.  That one.  -Which I bought along with "The Skin of Our Teeth".

*I'm trying to figure out of the "Broadway Theatre Archive" series/company is still active.  Their direct link/website is no longer available.  Did PBS go ahead and take over (in conjunction with Amazon)? Or is what's left of the shelves right what is left of the stock?

OOH!!!!

Back to the Topic of the Day...

Musicals: "Quilt" - Which was one of the first revues inspired by the stories from the AIDS Memorial Quilt panels.

Movies: "Parting Glances"  -I can't believe that one slipped my mind initially.  And it was restored/preserved last year too.

And from recent years: "A Home At the End of the World"

Message for TCB...

Brace yourself......

Bad news ahead..........

I have some bad news for you and I know you are a Dee Hall fan. I had heard rumours from a freind in the industry for a few weeks. I am also hearing the show may go to 30 minutes.

She has been fired from Days of our Lives...

I have heard the rumour they are cutting as many as 10 actors. Several other actors have already left.
