Speaking of GODS AND MONSTERS, has anyone else read all of Christopher Bram's novels?
I'm very fond of FATHER OF FRANKENSTEIN, GOSSIP, HOLD TIGHT and IN MEMORY OF ANGEL CLARE.

Joe Keenan's novels are witty and quite funny as well: PUTTIN' ON THE RITZ, MY BLUE HEAVEN and MY LUCKY STAR.

How could I forget about John Rechy! ? ? ? From the first time I opened CITY OF NIGHT, I was hooked on his writing. I'm not as fond of his later works, but, THE 4TH ANGEL, NUMBERS, BODIES AND SOULS and VAMPIRES all hold up very well.

Continental fiction with that gay edge definitely comes from Jean Genet, whose novels QUERELLE, OUR LADY OF THE FLOWERS and FUNERAL RITES are great reads.

I'm sorry Ann. I didn't know stores had statements like that in the fine print. I didn't know they could even do it. Did they offer the car seat for an extra special oops price?

I have never seen the movie version of BOYS IN THE BAND. I saw the original Off-Broadway cast do the show in 1969. As a young man, on the doorway of the closet, I was horrified by what I saw. I wanted to have no part of that lifestyle. I am sure that if I watched the movie now, I would find the humor and identify with the characters, but I could never bring myself to watch it.

I thought MAKING LOVE was horrible, but perhaps I am being too critical of the awful acting. I never saw the play LOVE! VALOUR! COMPASSION!, but I didn't really care about the movie.

Since so many of you have expressed interest, I will give you a brief update on Stan.

The surgeon considers that the surgery on Saturday was a complete success. Stan seems to have function in all of his extremities. He responds to commands. He has, as of this afternoon, said nothing more than yes or no and those words only rarely. Also, as of this afternoon, he still doesn't recognize anyone, including me. The doctors say that there is still swelling on the brain that needs to go down before we can make any final decisions or determine where we go from here.

Also like to recommend a short film called THE DADSHUTTLE.

The not so simple story deals with a father and son as the father drives his son to the train station after a visit home. It is not so much as what is said, but what is not said. The dialogue skillfully dances around what they really want to say to each. but the chasm between the is vast. Almost painful to watch but the acting by Peter Maloney as the father and Matt McGrath as the son is excellent.

I recommend it.

It can be found on the collection called Boys Life 2 which also has another good film called Nunzio's Second Cousin with Vincent D'Onofrio as a gay cop and Eileen Brennan as his mother

I'm still trying to figure out, find out if the recently restored print ever made it's way to a DVD release. I know it played OutFest in LA and NYC last year - as a film, and I thought I had heard that another DVD incarnation was in the works.

Well, I did manage to watch the remaining STAR TREK episodes. As enjoyable as some of the episodes are, season three was not a great one, and it was tedious going with some of those last episodes. Nice to see James Daly as the primary guest star in one.

I put in the last disc of bonus items. Not counting the two different versions of "The Cage," there are 10 featurettes on this disc. I looked at the times. The longest is about 22 minutes and the shortest about 5. So I'll be spending all afternoon on this disc tomorrow.

I am watching easily the most bizarre film ever made, KITARO. It's like Ed Wood directing a live-action anime.
