There are reviews of "Australia" are on line. The premier was in Sydney. I hope Jackman does well.

The preview and Ncole's ripoff line from  LAST OF THE MOHICANS has put me off.  Not to mention Ms Kidman herself. She always looks as if she just smelled something really foul.

WARNING - I'M ABOUT TO START RANTING ---

Well, I think my own stupidity has just cost me the price of the item I just sold on ebay.  When I set up my ebay selling account, I inadvertently attached it to an old paypal account that my usual e-mail account has been linked to for about eight years  I use a different paypal account now, that's attached to the joint e-mail Jed and I share.  This old paypal account was set up for me by my idiot of an ex-boyfriend, and he didn't trust online stuff so he made up all the information.  I have the fake name, because the emails come addressed to said name, but I need at least the fake address or phone number to verify the account with Customer Service so I can get in, reset the password, transfer that payment out of the account, and close it down.  But I have none of the information needed.  It's all my own stupid fault for letting him do it for me, but I'd never bought anything online before in 2000, and I was scared to give them my real information too.  So I let him do it for me. I never once logged in to that account, never attached a bank account number or a debit card number to it..it's an empty dud account that has been sitting there for eight years, except now it has my payment in it, and I can't get it out.
I haven't spoken to said ex-boyfriend in years, and with all the drugs he did after we broke up, I doubt he'd be able to remember the info he used anyway.  I could just throw up I'm so mad with myself.  I've changed the paypal info on ebay so this can't happen again, but I just essentially gave away that item.  I mean, the seller paid for it, but I'll never get that payment.  And without any identifying information, the nice customer service people, who clearly thought I was trying to perpetrate a scam, refused to help me.

Sorry, I needed to get this off my chest.  My stupidity at the age of 19 is coming back to bite my 27 year old self in the butt.

DR Ann:  Don't you have any e-mail correspondence between yourself and your buyer-- and eBay records, as well (which OWNS PayPal) -- which might allow someone in customer service put two and two together and realize you're not scamming?

If the original account is in your name -- and you have proof that you sold the item and gave the buyer the account nomenclature to use to pay you the money -- common sense should prevail.

NEVER settle for the person who answers the phone.  If you hit a brick wall, ask for a supervisor.

That's the problem, the account isn't in my name.  It uses my e-mail address, but everything else is made up.  I have the name, but it's not mine.  I think it's hopeless, sadly.  There's no way they're going to believe me on this.

I got the feeling watching those featurettes on the bonus STAR TREK disc that many of these were in the last issue of Season 3. I never had those, but the copyright dates (2003/2004) suggested they were included then. Only two of the ten or so bonuses seemed newly done.

Anyway, there were some delightful home movies taken by utility player Billy Blackburn, and I really enjoyed seeing those. And there was a tribute to the show's producer Bob Justman who seems to have been greatly loved by the company.

Did you sell Toby or Jed on ebay?  I'm easily confused.

I did finish BROTHERS & SISTERS while I ate lunch. I knew buying that house would backfire badly, and I can't believe what a horrible date Dave Foley was for Sol. Now I'm eager to know whom Sol is really dating.

I'm debating that option, asking her to withdraw that payment and pay me via another method.  But do you think it would result in bad feedback for me on ebay??

I watched the new Legacy version of VERTIGO this afternoon (well, about 40 minutes of it.) Not owning the Masterpiece Collection, I had only the nonanamorphic original issue, so the picture was quite an advance over what I had. I didn't buy the other Hitchcocks in the Legacy collection; they're on my CHristmas lists to various friends, but this one I really wanted to have now since I love the movie so much.

I totally agree here. Do not give up. Talk to a supervisor and explain the situation.

If you have the correspondence from the ebay buyer and you can prove that you are the person who sold the item, you should be able to prove that the payment from your ebay account went into that paypal account.

I think you could also explain the situation to the buyer, saying that you accidently had an old unusable paypal account set up to ebay.

Yea...I would think that the buyer could cancel the payment through Paypal since you haven't actually accepted the payment.  I've done that before...not for an eBay purchase, but I did pay through Paypal.

Good luck!

Not if the buyer is a nice person. :)

I think there is a way, via PayPal, for the "buyer" to cancel a payment if it has not been claimed by the seller.  There used to be, at any rate.

If the buyer could do this, he or she could then pay you at the correct "name".

DR Ann, I have canceled a payment via paypal before as well. I would just explain the situation as best you can and hope they will do the needful.

You could always give them a discount for the inconvenience, if you are worried about feedback.

Yes, this would be the easiest option to my way of thinking.

However....you have an eBay account under which you sold this item to a buyer for a specific amount of money.

EBay owns PayPal.

PayPal has access to eBay accounts.

Anyone competent at PayPal could look at your listing...see the name of your buyer....see the payment to which you are referring that was made by your buyer...and even determine that the e-mail address on the account in question is the one you currently have associated with your seller account under your name.

There has to be some level of sanity at PayPal that can say:

"Oh!  I see that Ann has an old account and she didn't have it in her name BUT IT WAS ASSOCIATED WITH her e-mail address.   'We' want our cut of Ann's sale, and we cannot get that if nobody accepts the payment which Ann is trying to have corrected.  Maybe 'we' should help her!"

Wouldn't that be just remarkable??!!??

okay, so I wrote to my buyer and explained the situation as simply as I could, calling it just an "old inaccessible account"  I asked her to cancel that PayPal payment, and said she could either pay me at the correct PayPal account, or send me a check after she received the item (which I sent out yesterday) and is satisfied with it.   I await her reply.  Hope she's nice...
