OMELET IN A PITA
« on: November 23, 2008, 09:40:28 PM »

Well, you've read the notes, the notes almost weren't posted because I kept getting an "error" message via AOL ("This document contains no data"), so I posted them through Safari and it worked, thank goodness, and now it is time for you to post until the cows come home - they're currently enjoying an omelet in a pita.

No, I haven't read the not-quite-posted notes, but, it's a pleasure to be an early poster again.  ;)

Wasn't "Cretin Man" a song from THE SLOBBER BRIDEGROOM?

I really have to say that my best trips are the ones I have taken to NY, NY and to LA, LA.

Both NYC trips were equal in delightfulness, although the first one with that fantastic walking eating tour may have the slight edge.

but of my many Los Angeles trips I have to count the birthday trip I took to see BK's BRAIN FROM PLANET X as possibly the most fun.

So, since I stayed out much later than I should have tonight, here are the "short versions":

Dinner with bk and Alex Rybeck at Joe Allen.
Menu as previously mentioned.
A pleasure to finally meet Alex formally.
Pictures of bk's hand and the pumpkin pie will posted tomorrow/later today.

After dinner at Joe Allen, I headed over to John's Pizza to meet up with ODR Jason and some other friends for a belated celebration of Jason's birthday.  *And the reason he did not check in on the day of his birthday was due to the crazy(!) schedule he's on right now: he's back at MTI and he's the assistant merchandise manager for MTI.

Appetizer: Mozzarella Wedges (breaded and deep-fried)
Pizzas: Two Small - One Plain (Cheese), One with Pepperoni and Sausage.
Drinks: One pitcher of Coke, one pitcher of Diet Coke

Since I had had a substantial salad at Joe Allen, I basically had a slice of pizza for my dessert.

After leaving John's Pizza, we headed over to the Regal Cinemas on 42nd Street to catch the 11:00pm showing of "Quantum of Solace".

-15 minutes of previews.
-One of the worst theme songs ever.  It sounded like they used a "detuner" on the voices.  The vocals literally made me flinch.
-Lots of actions.  LOTS.  Not too much dialog.
-Daniel Craig was only shirtless for about one minute.  :-\
-Again, lots of action.
-Well paced, but should and could have been trimmed by about 10 minutes.
-Turned out that I knew almost everyone else who showed up - I had played auditions for almost all of them.  -And one of them knew me from VCU.

bk - Actually, according to Google Maps, the distance from your hotel over to Joe Allen is approximately 1.2 miles.

And, no, I did not see "Twilight" tonight.  However, I'm tempted to see it only because my friends who did see it this weekend, said it was one of the funniest (unintentional) comedies they have seen this year.  ;D

bk - If you notice that your calves seem a little sore and/or tight tomorrow, you can avoid that by putting a very slight incline on the treadmill - just one or two points/degrees.  It's just enough of an angle to soften your footstrike without adding too much extra "effort".

DR Jane - I see Mallomars all the time in the stores.  Are they a seasonal item on the West Coast?

DR Jennifer - RE: The store's price-matching policy - It's always best to "contest" those things during the week when they have "regular" managers on duty and not just "weekend managers".  And I'd say just call the store directly.  Do not write a letter - it will just get added to the pile.  ;)

Dostana.

;D

-Actually, when we arrived at the theatre, it appeared that the last showing of "Dostana" was just getting out.  There were a couple of us who took notice of the attractive, all-male, Indian clientele leaving the multiplex.

*Alas, I did not take any pictures.

In April 1986 the not yet Vixdad took me to meet his folks (since we were engaged he thought it might be a good idea) they were then residing in Coventry, The Midlands, England.

Coventry is where Lady Godiva had her famous ride -- they are also famous for their Silk Weavers - beautiful poictures made of silk (of which I bought several) we toured the old medevial Coventry Cathedral whcih was destroyed in the Blitz - and the new modern Catheral right next door.... had a Ploughman's lunch in a pub which has been continuously in business since the days of Henry VIII

We took a day trip to Stratford and saw where Will Shakespeare hung out, had a nother day trip tp Warwicke castle and one day was spent in London ending with
a moonlit walk across Tower bridge
