Happy Thanksgiving to all DR's!!! We had our feast and I dreamed away most of the afternoon. Good day. DR Cill sitting at the table about 15 away, I think we're waiting on pumpkin pie...

Jose, your baby pic is so cute.

...And so is your question mark, DR jhvw.  ;)

Hope the pie is worth the wait!

*Alas, shortly after that pic was taken, Emily commenced with her usual "I'm scared of my Uncle Jojo" routine.

DR Jose - has "Duffy" made any impact in the USA? Her album was the best selling CD in the UK this year.

The first single from the album, "Mercy", has only been outsold by one of those charity/xmas releases by a group of "talent" show finalists. (with Mariah Carey's "Hero").

"Duffy" has done quite well here in the States.  Although, it took (seemingly) forever for her post-"Mercy" single, "Stepping Stone" to get released - or at least for her to perform something else other than "Mercy" on her various TV appearance.

Has the new Brent Dennen album been released Down Under?  Some amazing lyrics on the latest release.

Thankfully, her mother knew the proper game/fake out to use in order to get that pic.  ;)

So...

John Michael wanted to watch a James Bond movie today(?), so we checked the On Demand listings, and, lo and behold, almost all the Bond films were available for free viewings.  So, we're currently watching "License to Kill"...

Now, I know this movie was made in 1989 - which is not really not that long ago - but, boy, does this one seem dated.  It has not aged well, imho.

Not that I am aware of DR JoJo.

I've not been in the stores much.

Duffy's second single in the UK was "Warwick Avenue" which also did very well. Maybe because it's a London Tube station reference they decided against it for the second release in the USA.

The reviews here did not care too much for the story line and pacing of the new James Bond movie but the box office was great - too much for "Australia" to outsell/

So far the comments for "Australia" have been mostly along the lines of - an hour too long, Kidman is so wrong (and looks uncomfortable) and the word "Crikey" is way over-used!

DR Tomovoz - Is "crikey" the Australian equivalent of "hot mess"? ;)

And speaking of "Australia"....

Manohla Dargis in the NY Times gave it somewhat benefit-of-the-doubt positive review.  However, the most entertaining part of the review was at the end where they listing the films ratings and some "warnings":

Quote
“Australia” is rated PG-13 (Parents strongly cautioned). Some bloody violence, many stampeding hooves.

"Crickey" -  an expression of surprise or mild oath!

DP Colin and I tried to watch "A Home at the End of the World" the other night.  Colin's Farrell's eye movements just became all too much!  (We coped much better with his character in "In Bruge").

Worst movie we have attempted to watch of late - "Chicago Cab".  It was not $2 well spent.

I just posted this to CASTRECL, but if anyone here can help:

In the strange but true department, our niece's college roommate, who is over here for Thanksgiving dinner since her parents are British, turns out to be the daughter of Peter Bellwood, book writer for the musical "Gantry."  Does anyone have access to a soundboard recording of the show?  She's certain her father has no recordings and I'd like to connect her to one so that she can give it to him for Christmas.  Thanks!

I know!  Let's all sing a rousing chorus of Dominique!!    :)

Who's gonna play the guitar?

I guess pop singer Adele (Chasing pavements) is not Sister Smile's Guitar with a career of her own.

(I hope at least one Reader understands the references there)

I will sing of Adeleto
I will sing of Sister Adele,
Was never a servant so faithful
She wants but to serve the Lord well.

Adele is my dear companion,
Together we've traveled so far.
Together we sing as we worship
Adele is my Spanish guitar. . .

I think I got it, DR tomovoz.
