I think people are really misunderstanding the topic of the day.  It's not about general guilty pleasure movies, but about a specific KIND of guilty pleasure film which was peculiar to the 70s and 80s, i.e. The Cassandra Crossing, Airport 75, Escape To Athena, Raise The Titanic and many, many others.
Ah, yes, The Cassandra Crossing.  The plot, in five words: Train fall down go boom.

Shockingly my niece begged to go sit on santa. My sister did not want her to do it since her husband was not there (he didn't want to go).

But she was dragging me. So i suggested we just have her go meet santa and see if she would even sit near him. And then if they wanted to take a pic, they go as a family together.

She did go see santa. And i was shocked. She sat there and told him what she wanted. And then he told her he loved her. And she hugged him and told him she loved him. I really would not have believed that one.

My sis decided to get the pic.

And the free train ride around the mall was very fun. She loved it!

However, I remember Exorcist II: The Heretic as being wonderfully guilty, at least in it's original form before they edited the hell out of the ending (no pun intended).

Ginny, are you having a big retirement dinner?  Or a tea?  Or possibly a kegger?

My department is having a reception for me on Dec. 15.  It will be in the Auditorium where I do most of my programs and we've invited the entire Library staff as well as some of my nonprofit contacts from the outside.

It sounds nice.  I'm sure you will share the details with us.  It has been exciting & reading your last this, last that.....:)

I'm really up now.  momentary internet checking in the middle of the night, in part because I had gotten to sleep early (for me) and then wondered if an email form some people had come in.  The one I was looking for hadn't, but sometimes lovely emails come in at 2 in the morning NY time, and I was glad we didn't wait until morning to get this particular one.

The emails I get between 2:00 AM and 6:00 AM usually invite me to purchase Viagra or seeking help from Nigeria

If he didn't want to go maybe he won't mind not being there for the photo.  Was your sister pleased with the photo?

What kind of hardware company [Hewlett Packard] sells you a printer without the USB cable in the box to enable you to connect it to your computer and...oh, I don't know...actually USE it??   >:(

Canon.  I just got a new one a few months ago.  They provided a phone cord because it's a scanner/copier/fax machine (I don't need no stinkin' fax machine!)...but like HP, no USB cable! :P

OY!  As if I hadn't done enough crying over the past few weeks...  -Good cries, so...

The STORY: BWW TV: When Lin-Manuel Met Nicholas 'IN THE HEIGHTS'*
*Written in part by our very own DR CraigBrockman, son of our very own DR ArnoldMBrockman.

The VIDEO: IN THE HEIGHTS... DREAMS COME TRUE*
The video features the finale of the show, so consider this a partial spoiler.  But it's still worth watching, regardless.

Thanks Jose, that made me cry. What a totally cool thing for them to do for him

And John Boorman can also be credited for another guilt trip, Zardoz.

I have been home all day (I didn't even go to work to make up some time ;)) and have just been doing nothing but watching TV.  I will very soonly need to take a shower, get dressed, get gas for my car and buy a small (and very inexpensive) birthday present for Christina (we were in "The Taming of the Shrew" together last year) because she's having a birthday party tonight after the show and most of the cast are going.  One of her housemates is Elizabeth, who plays the narrator and FDR in Reefer Madness! The Musical.

Ate some junk from Gelson's.  That'll do it for Gelson's for at least a week.  Tomorrow, something wholly different.

Today, I installed my new cellulose shades in the dining room and on the landing.  7 of them in all.  Whoa, that's a lot of work over my head, I'm going to feel it in my shoulders and neck...then I took the roll up shades that I had taken down, packed them up and took them to the Habitat for Humanity Re-Store.  They were custom shades and still in pretty good shape so hopefully someone else can use them.  Then I did some shopping at Lowes and Target and came home where I made a big pot of chicken vegetable soup.   It's very tasty

Are those made from overweight people's rear-ends?

Drove home in a snowstorm and almost broadsided a huge, dark SUV that pulled out in front of me without lights.  If I'd been going faster, I'd have spun on the slippery pavement when I braked.  Winter - YUCK!

Here's a link to see some of the performances from our Bacharach benefit.  Unfortunately, they haven't put up Turkey Lurkey Time, but I think Adam will post that on youtube shortly.
