And speaking of politics, it is interesting to see Conan the Governor, who has in the past been rather supportive of gay rights, groping his way toward a comfortable position on the Sanctity of Marriage.
Arnold's position has been plain and consistant from day one. He personally does not support Gay Marriage but does support civil unions/domestic partnerships. He also believes in upholding existing law.
The GLBT community in CA is very pleased with his recent peformance:

email@eqca.orgSAN FRANCISCO -- Republican Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, one of the nation’s most recognized and popular Republican elected officials, announced on the Tonight Show that he did not support the Discriminatory Federal Marriage Amendment recently endorsed by President Bush. When asked whether he supported Bush’s proposal, Schwarzenegger replied: “We have a state law, and I think those issues should be left to the state, so I have no use for a constitutional amendment or change in that at all, no.”
“The Governor tonight has demonstrated that he will stand up to President Bush and the extreme right-wing in their effort to destroy lesbian and gay families,” stated Geoffrey Kors, Executive Director of Equality California, California’s statewide lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender advocacy organization. “We applaud the Governor’s actions and thank him for taking this principled position less than a week after President Bush launched his assault on family values.”. Equality California the sponsor of a resolution by Assembly Mark Leno (D-SF) and the LGBT Legislative Caucus to make California the first state in the nation to go on record against the Federal Marriage Discrimination Amendment.. “With the Governor’s standing on the side of protecting families, not destroying them, we are hopeful that other California Republicans, both in Congress and in the State Legislature, will join us in opposing writing discrimination into the Constitution.”
