Although the esteemed DerBrucer called for a moritorium on wee-wee jokes after presenting one such himself, I cannot but recount the following.

My sister-in-law (or sister-out-law, until New York follows San Francisco's example)'s ex-husband, known affectionately as Mad Dog (because he had those words tatooed on the inside of his lower lip), was in the city of Nyu Yahk one day and had the uncontrolable urge to relieve himself on the grass at the entrance to Central Park. He proceeded to produce a mighty cascade.

Whilst he was contemplating the golden parabolic arc issuing forth, he was approached from behind by an Officer of the Law, who tapped him on the shoulder and said sternly, "Turn around!"

Which he did.

As for the call for Democrats to vote, I did that at 6:15 this morning on my way to work. I was surprised indeed at the long list of candidates, particularly fellow mathematician and general nut case Lyndon LaRoche (with pledged delegates, no less, and Kerry had none!). I thought LaRoche had disappeared from sight a quarter of a century ago.

And speaking of politics, it is interesting to see Conan the Governor, who has in the past been rather supportive of gay rights, groping his way toward a comfortable position on the Sanctity of Marriage.

Man Who Was Said to Be 114 Only 92

CLINTON, Md. (March 2) - In the week since William Coates' death, his family has been arranging a funeral befitting a man purported to have lived for 114 years, which, if true, would have ranked him among the oldest people in the United States.

But U.S. Census records indicate that Coates, who had been celebrated for his age in news stories and public proclamations, was no older than 92 when he died Feb. 24.

It is unclear who initially asserted that Coates was born in 1889. Irving H. Smith, director of a Prince George's senior citizens center who hosts an annual celebration for centenarians, has asserted that Coates was the county's oldest citizen. He said he based this on conversations with Coates' relatives and on records at the Clinton Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, where Coates spent his last years.

The home confirmed that its records list Coates' birth date as June 2, 1889. But it's not clear where that information came from.

"To be honest," Smith said, "about the only fact we know for sure is that he's dead."

Arnold's position has been plain and consistant from day one. He personally does not support Gay Marriage but does support civil unions/domestic partnerships. He also believes in upholding existing law.

I was in one of those first productions of THE NIGHT THAT THOREAU SPENT IN JAIL at the University of Kentucky, playing Thoreau's brother John. The local reviewer was so crazy about the play he pressured us to give an extra matinee for the benefit of Jose Ferrer who was in town and was thought to possibly be interested in the play. Naturally a last minute performance was poorly attended and I don't think Mr. Ferrer saw the show's best performance. But we all got to briefly meet him after the performance.

By the way, I came across a wonderful website I thought I should share with all the HHW fans of Golden Age Television. www.hollywoodsattic.com has a fantastic selection of videos of vintage TV programs. They have a 1950s broadcast of both the Emmy's and the Oscars (don't recall the exact dates...1956, 58, or something along those lines), and I saw an old 1965 Christmas special starring Liza Minelli and Vic Damone. Anyway, check out their selection...they also have a lot of silent films as well as other films.

I'm going to jump in here and defend Fredrica von Stade, she's an absolutely beautiful lady and deserves neither slams nor slurs. I'd been a fan for a long time and met her at a Sunday matinee of the musical TRIUMPH OF LOVE, which she was attending to see her friend Betty Buckley.

I really don't think he has much hope for a directing Tony this season with WICKED, WONDERFUL TOWN, LITTLE SHOP, ASSASSINS, AVENUE Q, and the upcoming BOMBAY DREAMS looming. THe show didn't get great reviews.

Lulu, for that full lip look there is a lipstick, or something like it, you can buy to sting your lips and make them swell. I tested a sample and removed it within minutes.

Please do! Lady in the Dark is a surprising work, and one that doesn't get produced nearly often enough. I want a full report! (Actually, I want a new recording, but I'm not going to be as crass as der Brucer in my asking for one.)

East coast, Babbles is part of the build-up. West coast, she's part of the led down.

Having endured the "have to get home" blues on the West coast often enough (particularly when it was held on Mondays at the Dorothy Chandler; my route home went right by the Music Center, which was impassable those nights), I have to admit that staying up all hours on the East coast is a little easier to take.

Additional thought: Think of this as Monday Night Football with a more interesting demographic. ABC has always had to run whatever preceeded the football game after the game on the West coast, simply to provide everyone with live game coverage. (Can you imagine all the betting problems in CA and WA if someone could phone a friend in Tampa to get the results ahead of his "buddies"? It would be justifiable homicide!) So, when MacGyver was paired with the games for years, it's ratings stunk in the West, mainly because it's target audience (the kids) had been neatly tucked in bed in their Dr. Dentons by that time. Likewise, Babbles gets a lower share on Oscar Nite in the West than she does in the East.
