I don't have any cake.  I need to buy some more diet soda in a can.

Remember, the soda you drink is the one that has the most attractive can

We had about 3-4 inches of snow last night. I've cleaned off the driveway and the walks and now must see if I can get the Prius through the snow and on to the roads that have been cleared.   It's very cold and windy so many of the schools are closed, but here in town they are running two hours late.  So, if they can get to school, I should be able to get to the office

Good morning!

Overcast skies here and we may be in for some rain later in the day. Cold but not horribly so, and we're warming into the 60s tomorrow (but then back to the 40s for the remainder of the week.)

No UPS shipment this morning, so I actually could take the day off if I wanted, but I'll wait to see what the USPS brings; there may be Criterion discs in there that will need attention, and I'd love not to get backed up with work so quickly.

Don't really have a favorite singer/songwriter. I do like Rod McKeun, but I couldn't actually say he's a favorite, and Peter Allen was also an ingratiating performer of his own music.

Good morning, all! I was out of bed around 8:30 to be at my doctor's by 9:15 for the lab work from yesterday's physical exam. After that, I went up to my storage space to lug hime a few cartons, then I had breakfast and here I am.  I'm feeling very puny today: I think I'm getting an abscess in my jaw which is aching quite a bit, and I feel like i'm about to come down with something.  So, I canceled my date for the Men's Chorus conceert at Carnegie Hall tonight and I'm going to stay in.

I have to walk up to physical therapy at 1 today, although I'd rather not, and that's my day.

Just to be on the SAFE SIDE, call your doctor and tell him about your jaw hurting.  A sore jaw -- and folks almost always presume it to be a localized something-or-other -- CAN be a symptom of an impending heart attack.

No alarmism, I hope, in my telling this, but BE SAFE AND BE SURE!

This would make a very nice avatar, nice photo.  The current avatar also very nice but it is fun to change them once in awhile.

The problem with the new one was that it came out too small as a avatar...but I am using it on other sites (e.g. GoodReads), where it shows up at a proper size.

Random comments overheard this morning:

In an elevator with about six men from the Sheriff's Department:

"I want to show you something, but we'll need to meet in private."

In reception area of my agency's main offices where two ladies were having a discussion:

"I've never done it with a computer before."

I'm certain some very mundane things were being -- or were going to be -- discussed.  But it's fun to speculate about out-of-contextual scenarios.

My favorite singer/songwriters of the late 60s and all 70s would certainly have to include Rupert Holmes, Tim Moore, Carly Simon, Carole King, Paul Williams (alone and with various composers), Jimmy Webb (although his are not my favorite versions of his songs), and most especially Randy Newman.
