Society is so different today than what it was in 1966, too!  ;)

Where did 1966 come from? I don't get the reference to that year in particular.

It was nothing more than a personal frame of reference to a more recent time...teens were still being subjected to societal perceptions of the Eisenhower years during which many here were brought up.  Even though the Beatles had recently made major impacts on music and "hair", society was perceived to be a certain way in 1966 (at least by me) and it underwent dramatic changes in the following years.

And it has changed (much for the worse, IMO) since then, too.

I was born in 1966. ;D

And there it is!   Let's blame George!

I know I'm not the youngest person (nor the oldest) on this board, but a couple of weeks ago, I found out that I'm the oldest person in the cast of Reefer Madness...by several years!  I've never before been the oldest person for anything that I've ever done! :-\

Just did a calorie check for an In n Out cheeseburger - not too bad - about 480, but the fat grams are high at 27.  But, that's what I'll be having for lunch.  No fries, though - those are 400, which isn't a problem, but also VERY high in fat grams, so I'll just do the cheeseburger, then have something later, maybe a sandwich and some fruit.

This morning, I woke up before my alarm, so I need to take advantage of the extra time and get to work a little early.

Have a good day, all!

DR Ginny, tell Richard I'm sorry about his toe. In the 1970s I had one so badly infected that they had to remove the nail.  My only memory now, beyond the pain, is soaking my toe after the surgery in salts every couple of hours.

DR vixter, your mother is lucky to have such a wonderful daughter! When my Aunt Dorothy was going through chemo in the early 1990s, she would tell me I could call her any time but the day after the treatment because she would be really ill. My dad had similar reactions to his chemo treatments, so I wish DR vixmom the best and send my love to you, her, and vixdad.

Here are some vibes before I head off to physical therapy!

I  shouldn't have stopped in, I just needed to check in on everyone cuz so much is going on.  I keep thinking of the Vixfamily.  I hope something can be done for DR Vixmom to reduce the severity of the side effects.

DR Vixter, it is extremely difficult to know you really can't do anything, especially what you want most of all-to stop this.  It really hurts & it really sucks!

DR Druxy:  Regarding your comment last night about the "It's a knick-knack, Patty Whack, give the frog a loan.  His old man's a Rolling Stone!"

I agree with you 100%!  It's a groaner, but it always makes me laugh, too.  I think it's the association with the silly song.

Truthfully, I loved it.

...but I don't know what to do, because nothing going to stop the pain that she's in right now.

What to do? Just keep on doing what you are doing - being a mature young lady ready to lend love and kindness.

Good morning, Dear Readers!  I am preparing to get in the car to drive over the river and through the woods to grandmother's mom's house to do our annual two-day stint of holiday baking.  Should be a blast!

Golly, it's going to be sort of QUIET here today...what with all that baking after he goes through the river and over the woods.  ;)

Finished with part two of the liner notes - really glad I held off doing the jog, as it just rained for about seven minutes (a real LA rain, that).

DR the vixter - It's all right to be scared. I was scared a couple of weeks ago when my Mom had her surgery, and there are still moments when I'm still scared.

It's all right to be scared, to be frightened. It's natural. It just means that you Love your mother, and you want her to get better sooner rather than later. There was a quote from Einstein I came across yesterday in one of the exhibitions. It went something along the lines of: Time exists so that everything does not happen all at once. (My apologies for not quoting that exactly.)

Your Mom will get better. And each day that she gets better is also a day that you get less scared. But it's also another day that you get to spend with your mother. And once she is no longer hurling, and once you are no longer scared, you will have nothing but better and brighter and hurl-free days to look forward to. -And you will be able to look back to "now", and know that there is nothing that you two - and the vixdad, of course - can't get through together.

I wish you and your Mom and Dad only the best. *And if you do happen to need anything, I'm pretty sure that my number is in your Mom's cellphone. :)

Well, I was planning on seeing another movie or two this afternoon, but since the sun is out, the sky is blue, and the air is crisp, I think I'm just going to forego more "inside" time for now, and just see where the day - and my feet - take me.

I know for a fact that when I "use" time rather than "waste" it, I feel a deep sense of satisfaction when I get things done that need doing.  That is far more rewarding than putting them all off until there's no way of getting them all done.

the weather forecast for next week shows us to be in the teens all week long....that is very rare for this part of Oregon, in fact it rarely even gets below freezing here.

I don't think I will like it very much.

PUPPY MILL SURVIVORS
Capt. Jan Selder, supervisor of the East Valley Animal Care Center in Van Nuys, holding Jingle, left, a Maltese puppy, and Holly, a Yorkie puppy, leads fellow employees, holding other puppies at a news conference at the center Dec. 11. The puppies were intercepted at LAX with falsified health documentation in June. The puppy mill dogs arrived from Seoul and were confiscated by L.A. Animal Services and L.A. County Public Health officials. Federal law requires imported puppies under three months old to be quarantined until one month after they receive their rabies vaccination.

That you have little interest in "teens" is no news - now if things got into the seventies....
