Oh, and I had to pull Michael Shayne's fun birthday drawing because it had turned page one into Pannivision, so if he could repost smaller sized that would be swell.

Speaking of DAY OF THE LOCUST, I would certainly like to see an anamorphic widescreen DVD of that movie.

I had a feeling John Stevens was going to lead the voting last night. His line was busy for the first 30 minutes after the show, and though I broke though once or twice, it wasn't until later that I was able to get through in successive calls.

I was hoping they'd have explained how those 9 were arrived at as Wild Card entries before the judges picked three from the leftover group last night. Was it total number of phone votes? Judges' selections? Producers' choices? I can't gripe much about the choices which included all of the talented singers who didn't already make it (and some very untalented ones, too), but a  little more information would have been nice.

For any latecomers to the Kritzer saga, there is currently a copy of the first book in hardcover available from a used seller (a bookstore in Palm Springs) for ten bucks.  As cheap as a movie.

[move=left,scroll,6,transparent,100%]Good Morning, Good Morning![/move]

I feel like I haven't had any sleep at all.  I am kind of sitting and staring at my comptuer screen, hoping that it will make some eligiblity decisions, so that I don't have to make them.

DR Ann -- The Gala is now Friday and Saturday nights at 8:00, and Sunday night at 7.  Saturday is almost sold out, so if you are interested in seeing it, you might want to call this afternoon for tickets  I hope you can see it, it is a pretty great show, but not because of anything I am doing.  There are just some great numbers and great performers in the show.

But better than any movie I've seen in years and with no ads or trailers!

DR MattH: I think the judges choose all of the wild card selections.  Although if you notice they did choose all the #3s.  I'm not sure if that is a policy or just out of fairness.

I thought they chose too many from the final 32.  The public has already heard all of these people. And I don't think some of them will improve. I would have definitely rather seen some that weren't in the final 32 for the Wild Card show.

Where is MY copy of Surfside Six with Miss Leslie Parrish?

DR Kerry,
Perhaps you would be so kind as to forward that tape of Surfside 6 episodes to BK for his Leslie Parrish enjoyment as I know not when I that particular episode would air again! Unless of course it is something you wanted to keep...in which case maybe he can just borrow it!

BK, can we still order the second book? (yes I am that far behind in the Kritzer books!)

Yes, you can still order the second book and still get the Kritzerland CD with it (although supplies on the CD are low).  Order away, so you can be caught up for Kritzter Time.

Some Broadway news according to Playbill On-Line:

Chitty Chitty Bang Bang finds a home in New York

http://www.playbill.com/news/article/84735.html

The Roundabout production of 20th Century w/Alec Baldwin and Anne Heche seems to be a hit.

http://www.playbill.com/news/article/84749.html

and finally, Call Me Madam appears at Goodspeed in Connecticut w/Kim Kriswell. As WEL has noted, it's a pain in the butt to try and get there if you don't have a car. I wish they would make it easier to see their shows.

Of course, Latin anagrams were once all the rage.  I read this one years ago in Ripley, certainly relevant to a recently-released foreign-languge gory movie:

Pontius Pilate's question to Christ, "What is truth?"

QUID EST VERITAS?

The anagram of this is:

EST VIR QUI ADEST

"It is the man who is present."

The Bible Code and all that.  My favorite oddity from Ripley in this regard concerns the King James Version.

When it was published, Shakespeare was 46 years old.
Go to the 46th Psalm.
The 46th word from the beginning is "shake".
The 46th word from there (and also the 46th from the end) is "spear".

Now tell me, how did anyone discover that?  And didn't they have way too much time on their hands?

Finished my rewrite! Hurray! Just called the producer and am meeting him to hand over the script. And I was able to put the very date of my very birth on the cover page.

I need excellent HHW birthday vibes sent my daughter's way (check out her photo from a few day's ago)...

She (Rachel Alice, by name) just called me from San Francisco, very excited. Rachel is a superb WHEEL OF FORTUNE player. She can see three letters (sometimes fewer) and come up with correct answers that seem impossible to guess. For years she's been saying that if she ever got on WHEEL she'd have college paid for. So today, quite unexpectedly, the WHEEL people showed up on her campus at the Univ. of San Francisco to audition students for the College show. They randomly selected a number of students to try out from the many who applied. She got chosen - that was sheer luck. But then she played and WON in her group. That was skill. They then interviewd her - she has a very bubbly personality - so that should be good. She will hear in the next few weeks if she gets to go on the actual game. So please send lovely HHW WHEEL OF FORTUNE vibes to Rachel, daughter of Panni/Anna.

Enjoyed the Chaplin documentary that premiered last night though truth to tell there really wasn't anything in it that hadn't been covered in previous documentaries about him. Of course, I guess it is good to have it all collected in one place.

Seeing the clips again, I broke up over all the gags in THE CIRCUS. Earlier in my life, I wasn't all that fond of it. Now, it makes me laugh uproariously with its slapstick antics, and when one reads what a torture it was for him to make, it's amazing it's so lighthearted and hilarious. I think it's his least heralded feature, and it deserves to be better known.
