DR Jeanne - Sorry to hear about this latest development.  On the bright side, at least you've already had a couple of home inspections done.  ;)

Yes, but bogus ones! You're right, though. I am now armed with a structural engineer's report and a clean pest report, had an appraisal come in at full asking price, and am savvy to the games that are played. I HATE to think what the next home inspector will come up with! We're going to play this game differently next time.

Oh... So, the reason I was up early this morning was that I was still up.  The "hour" of cleaning and organizing I wanted to take care of last night before I went to bed, well, it turned into an all night affair.  Yes, I'm pretty sure I'm a bit punchy right now, but after a cup of coffee and that very entertaining visit to the Post Office, well...  But...

I managed to clear out four(!) boxes-o-stuff, and I have two bag-fulls of paper, magazines and cardboard boxes for the recycling bin - I'm always amazed at how I hang on to receipts for everything(!).  Alas, I did not find my keys, but I did find my passport (again), and I organized a year or so of bills and Playbills in the process.

Thankfully, I have another short audition session this afternoon, so, I'll have plenty of time tonight to catch up on my sleep - and I can even take a nap this afternoon if I need to. -Only after setting multiple alarms, of course.  ;)

I am home today, just coming down from a loooooooooooong  week-  last Friday I had surgery for a  chemo port. Monday I had surgery for a  stomach tube and  Tuesday was spent in 7 hours of chemo witha  radiation chaser.... it gives a hell of a kick but I don't  think I will recommend it for your holiday partying!

Wednesday through today  (weekend excepted) consisted of daily doses of radiation and sudden trips to the oncologist for hydration ...toay we seemed to have discovered the cause for the sudden bouts of violent nausea - it appears that I am a canisdate for that side effect from a shot they give me prior to radiation - today we skipped the shot and I am starting to feel more like myself.

My proudest accomplishment today is having eaten a  whole English Muffin - sicne I have not had any solids since last Tuesday - this was worth phone callls to my parents and Vixdad (at work)  all of whom praised me like a kid workingthe potty.... and dammit I felt just as proud as that kid... amazing how priorities can get rearranged, ain't it?   I think God decided to give me a wakeup call....well He's got my full attention!

I am expecting the home care nurse shortly so I am going to run

Regarding yesterday's posting regarding the music from the film 300

Shortly after the film was released, there was considerable controversy as regards Tyler Bates's score. It was pointed out that Bates' music heavily borrowed from Elliot Goldenthal's score for Titus (1999). In particular, Bates' "Remember Us" is identical in parts to Goldenthal's "Finale", and "Returns a King" is very similar to "Victorius Titus." There was talk of an impending lawsuit, however, on 3rd August 2007, Warner Bros. Pictures acknowledged on the film's official website, "a number of the music cues for the score of 300 were, without our knowledge or participation, derived from music composed by Academy Award winning composer Elliot Goldenthal for the motion picture Titus. Warner Bros. Pictures has great respect for Elliot, our longtime collaborator, and is pleased to have amicably resolved this matter."

Oh, without their knowledge and/or participation, eh?  Maybe if they hadn't temp tracked the film with Titus and maybe if Tyler hadn't known that if he didn't do what they wanted and ape the temp track that his score would be tossed and he replaced, maybe then we'd believe that bit or revisionism.  I'm surprised there aren't more lawsuits and accusations because this happens all the time.

And after I went to the post office, I made the rounds of the local Foodtown, Duane Reade, Pathmark and NYSC to "replenish" the various customer cards.  I'm starting to feel "complete" again.  ;)

DR Jeanne's home buyers were idiots.  And they just made a decision that I believe they will end up regretting in a major way.  The same thing happened with my house.  First buyers withdrew because of the inspection report, even though I was willing to do many of the fixes.  One of the things they were most alarmed about was that the chimney had major damage.  When, a week later, our second buyers came in and made their offer, their inspection report showed no damage whatsoever to the chimney.  They bought the house, and made a lot of the repairs, which was part of our deal and the reason they paid full asking price.  The first buyers, like Jeanne's, were first timers, the difference being that the guy was in real estate and should have known better (a novice, but still in real estate).  I ran into him a year later and he told me that pulling out of that deal was the single stupidest thing he'd ever done and that he and his wife had regretted it ever since.  Oh, well.

I'm up.  It's cloudy with patches of blue and some sun.  I may finally be jogged out for this year, but we'll see.  I SAY that, but then I guilt trip myself into doing it.  But half the jogs I do these days don't make me happy, so it may be time to at least cut back.

Oh, Baby!! You're my hero. In the dictionary, your picture will be featured next to the word: Grace. Wall Street losses, short sales, hair loss, short term memory loss... BRING 'EM ON!!! No complaints from me. Ingrown toenail, anyone? Long line at the local Costco? Miss that important phone call, did ya? As my mom (may she rest in peace) used to say - you woke up alive this morning - you won.

This will be the second visit - he dropped by immedaitely after the operation last Monday - I shall have to look at him this time to let you know whether I need any  "supervision" next time he visits (he could have been 8 foot tall and green last week and I woul d not have noticed)

Air Bags for the clumsy
By JEFF STRYKER

Elderly people reasonably dread falling: falls are the leading cause of death from injury in adults 65 and older.

Perhaps they need not worry anymore. This month the Japanese company Prop begins selling a wearable set of air bags to protect against falls. The device looks something like a fishing vest with a fanny pack attached. When its built-in motion sensors detect a fall, it inflates two air bags — one around the hips, the other around the neck — in a 10th of a second. Instant Michelin Man. It retails in Japan for approximately $1,400.

How scary that I need one of these.  DR Kerry, do you think we can get a special discount if we buy two of these & share?  I have a hiking companion who could also use one, maybe the deal will be even better for three.

Just popped in while having lunch - Genevieve (the new Grants Specialist) and I are getting a lot done!

Hi, DR Vixmom!!!  I'm so glad to be here while you are.  You are beginning to sound (read) more like yourself, so I guess skipping that shot was a good idea.  Hang in there!

Fortunately, der B doesn't have the falling-down problem.  Fletcher deciding to lay down on top of him, now that's a different matter.
