Next, I finished THE WIZARD OF OZ which I had started yesterday. I don't care how many times I see it, it has the power to choke me up. I do love it.

After that, I watched THE DAY THE EARTH STOOD STILL on regular DVD. This was a Studio Classics release, but Fox doesn't appear to have done a monumental amount of clean-up on it. There were still speckles and dirt to be seen. I'm sure the newly released DVD and Blu-ray editions are cleaner. It was plenty sharp, however, with more than acceptable contrast, so I'll just keep what I've got and not trade-up to Blu-ray on this title.

I feel kind of guilty about not buying these vault titles since low sales numbers means the studios won't keep supporting the release of real classics, but I just don't love the movie enough to buy it again.

Since it was only 90 minutes, I had plenty of time to start another movie, and I chose one I have had for about a year without opening it. It's a Joan Crawford movie, too, that I've never seen: REUNION IN FRACE co-starring John Wayne and directed by the excellent Jules Dassin. Of course, he was a pretty green director when he did this 1942 film, and he had to work within MGM's constrictions.

I got about 45 minutes into the film before I stopped it and will finish it later today. Enjoyable story of France after it fell to the Nazis. Joan's Irene fashions in the midst of the Occupation are something to see!

I did have time to skim through today's AS THE WORLD TURNS. Luke and Brian came to a meeting of the minds, at least for now. I enjoyed their civilized talk. Luke is SO innocent to the ways of the world. Has he never heard of a bisexual? At any rate, I hope the storyline will continue. I'd like to see Brian fighting his attraction to his stepgrandson. Certainly would juice up the plots.

I did laugh a lot when Luke mentioned that he had already had a sexless relationship himself. Ain't THAT the truth!

So...

For those DRs who really, really like Burger King. Well, at the smell of a Whopper, you can now purchase BK's new fragrance: "FLAME".

I'm not making this one up. I'd post the link, but can't do a cut and paste on the iPhone (yet).  But if you Google away...

*I believe the scent is unisex. ::)

I have never tried chocolate covered bacon. It doesn't really sound that appealing.

But i have tried bacon and maple syrup the times when i've eaten bacon and either pancakes or french toast. Very good!

Has anybody ever made a gingerbread house before?

My niece has asked santa for it twice. We got one at costco that comes with all the stuff. I'm just hoping that the house part will stay together so she can put on the candies!

I tried the most delicious Lindt chocolates yesterday. They were white chocolate inside and covered in milk chocolate. Yum!

Yes. And mine looked like a Vacation Bible School craft. And I was about 30 at the time.

BK, so you think it's too cold to run where you are...Here's what I'm looking at right now at my back yard.  Under the deer is snow; under the snow is ice; under the ice is frozen mud.  The cold doesn't stop these wild boys from running.  I couldn't get the whole herd in; there were twice as many.  The Lovely Wife feeds them corn.

Had a wonderful day at Miami U, and now I'm trying to deal long-distance with a management/orchestration problem long distance which is driving me mad. A short drive, I admit, but frustrating to deal with because the schmoe has been sending a constant stream of email questions for fixes since Sunday. Oy.

I drove back from Oxford in an ice storm. Scary but fun.

Charles Pogue, that's pretty cool to have deer that close to you!  I live in the middle of a small town that's right next to the freeway (I-5) and rarely see them.  Thanks for posting the picture! ;D

I am home today, just coming down from a loooooooooooong  week-  last Friday I had surgery for a  chemo port. Monday I had surgery for a  stomach tube and  Tuesday was spent in 7 hours of chemo witha  radiation chaser.... it gives a hell of a kick but I don't  think I will recommend it for your holiday partying!

Wednesday through today  (weekend excepted) consisted of daily doses of radiation and sudden trips to the oncologist for hydration ...toay we seemed to have discovered the cause for the sudden bouts of violent nausea - it appears that I am a canisdate for that side effect from a shot they give me prior to radiation - today we skipped the shot and I am starting to feel more like myself.

My proudest accomplishment today is having eaten a  whole English Muffin - sicne I have not had any solids since last Tuesday - this was worth phone callls to my parents and Vixdad (at work)  all of whom praised me like a kid workingthe potty.... and dammit I felt just as proud as that kid... amazing how priorities can get rearranged, ain't it?   I think God decided to give me a wakeup call....well He's got my full attention!

I am expecting the home care nurse shortly so I am going to run

~~~Continued Vibes, Xylophones and Marimbas for DR Vixmom and Family!!~~~
He will be staying outside Brownsville - they don't "dine" there! Near by is a Truck Stop and a Subway.
