I know it is well regarded in these parts by most, but after seeing a few of the television promos for FROST/NIXON, I can only say that the non-interview portions look interesting, but Mr Frank Langella as Richard Nixon looks too much like a SNL parody to me.....

I think this will be a none watch for me - now or on down the line....we shall see.

Jane, I am so glad that you could celebrate the holiday season with both your sons at home, plus a new daughter and a daugther to be, as well.

Yes, it is very nice.

What a joyful time in DR JANE's household.  How is Mr Sherlock dealing with everything?

So many images, I just googled images and typed in Christmas Eve....many beautiful choices, but this house reminded me of one of my favorite houses in my hometown.....I still drive by it now and then....

Laid back as usual.  He is also enjoying Craig & Ioana who give him lots of attention.

Sherlock has been enjoying our walk on the snow covered road.  Yesterday he turned into "Monster Dog" attacking the bag of mail I was carrying, & then attacking me :)

Now, this is awkward.  We should concentrating on celebrating DR Druxy's reaching Hero status, and here I come along and hit a milestone.

How rude!

::)

Congrats on the Milestone, Woody! ;D

I just got home from the mountains, visiting my father. We had a BIG present for him! He has been dictating his memoirs (while he still has his memory!) to his wife. I scanned about a hundred pictures, and my brother-in-law did a wonderful layout and through an internet service, we were able to "publish" his memoirs, and it turned out beautifully. Best of all, my brother, who has been alienated from the family for many years (not his fault!) went to the mountains with us, and had a little bonding time with my dad. It was a great experience, and I was completely amazed by how beautiful this turned out.

Lee enjoyed making the book so much that he is thinking about starting a business doing this. Kind of like a personal documentary in book form. I think everyone should have a book like this, and it would be a great present for anyone hitting a millstone birthday or anniversary. My brother is ensconced on the sofa right now reading it!

That's so cool, Edi!  Great idea! :D

I'm still at my sister's.  For dinner, we had vegetarian chili (my sister is a vegetarian and my niece is vegan) with cornbread muffins.  Very good.  We're watching "A Christmas Story," but took a break so that I could make frosting for cupcakes that my sister made for dessert.

Back to the movie and the cupcakes! :)

I had a marvelous evening with two wonderful films.

I began with BONNIE AND CLYDE on Blu-ray. I hadn't seen the whole movie in many years, so it was a treat to see it from the beginning to the end and in such a high quality transfer. There's one sequence that was very soft and grainy (the picnic with family), such a contrast to the rest of the movie which is sharp with superb color. I'll have to read some reviews to see what others had to say about that.

Next, I took a classic off the shelf I hadn't watched all the way through in a long time - INHERIT THE WIND. Such a marvelous movie with a handful of really excellent performances.

Sadly, it was one of those annoying MGM nonanamorphic letterbox transfers. Upconverted it looked just fine, but how much better it would have looked if MGM had done the right thing and given it anamorphic enhancement.

And I completed my evening by skimming through today's AS THE WORLD TURNS. Nothing of interest and nothing in the previews.

Tomorrow I'll finish up with that Rossellini box set by watching BLAISE PASCAL. It's only 129 minutes long, so I should be able to get it finished tomorrow afternoon and have Christmas night for myself.
