bk - I'm sorry you didn't have a better choice of movies to see yesterday.  -Now I'm trying to figure out what the official release date is supposed to be for "Last Chance Harvey".  I thought it was supposed to be an early 2009 release.  I guess not.

*Although, it's interesting that "The Soloist" got pushed to Spring 2009 - it's third change of date.  Alas, from the trailer, it looks like they've manufactured a "meet cute" for the two main characters.  And I already know I'm going to have an issue going to see the movie since Jamie Foxx is starring opposite Robert Downey, Jr.  :-\

Back from the beach, and back to work this morning!

Did you at least get to work on your tan?

Jose thanks for sharing the story from last night - it made me flash back to a similar incident involving a then 1 year old Vixter and some chocolate cake!

I saw one of the worst movies I've seen in my life. The audience was awash in laughter although the movie was not a comedy. The film is called The Spirit and I am hoping that Samuel L Jackson received big bucks for this film. This was not one of his finest hours. Way way over the top. I went to it because I enjoyed Sin City and this film was a big mistake. In my opinion Frank Miller has no talent as a director and even though he directed a portion of Sin City I am sure that the main director Robert Rodriguez was there looking over his shoulder. I wish I could describe every moment that was bad. My friend and I would look at each other in disbelief at what we were watching. The highpoint (and I will it at that) was when Mr. Jackson appear in a Gestapo uniform.

Sadly, any movie is suspect lately when Samuel L. Jackson is listed among its stars. :-\

However... From the trailers, it seemed liked the movie was set up to be some sort of Graphic Novel-inspired camp fest.  Could you tell if anyone in the theater was actually laughing and not feeling "guilty" about laughing at the movie?

I'm feeling a little better this morning.  I'm hopeful that means this thing is finely over.  I know I want something to EAT besides soup.  I might make some chicken tonight.

Of course I would get better on the LAST day of my 4 day weekend.  Sigh.   ::)

DR Danise - Well... Couldn't you just call in "sick" tomorrow just because?  ;)

Here is my nephew Zane, his wife Casey, and their daughter Addison Claire...age 4 months.  ;D

Lovely family, DR JRand.

*Now I'm wondering just how many attempts it's going to take to get the nieces and nephew to smile and look at the camera during the "inevitable" Rockefeller Christmas Tree pics later today.  ;)

And my family is currently lunching at the first service area on the New Jersey Turnpike... Which should put them in Weehawken around 3:00, and then in the city around 4:00... Which means I have a few more hours to laze around clean the apartment.

OH!

And I also realized that since there's an 'extra' niece in tow today, "my" ticket for Radio City tonight has now become another "Christmas gift".  Hmm...

DR Ron Pulliam - So... If you had watched what came before those last 30 minutes, do you think you'd have a different opinion of the movie?  ;)

I remember seeing SENTIMENTAL JOURNEY way back when I was but a child. The seen of the little girl at the beach made me cry.

I have not yet seen the remake, but I do have both movies on DVDr...perhaps a double feature is in my future

Hmm...

The internet and web seems a little "slow" today.  I'm wondering if it's all part of the usual post-Holidays-everyone-got-a-new-computer and/or smart-phone crush.

I'm up, I'm up - finally.  I didn't go to bed until two, so I needed the sleep.  It looks very pretty outside, but it's too late to do the long jog right now, so when Hisaka leaves I'll do it.

As to Last Chance Harvey and Seven Pounds - it's just my opinion - some may like these films, so see them and let us know what you think.

Thank you, all, for the vibes and prayers for my sister. She will be needing them all spring!

And they will continue as long as she needs them.  Vibes for you too & you deal with the pain of watching her go through this!

And of course, continued vibes for the entire Vixfamily!!!

The Yellow Brick Road will no longer run to Studio City:

LATIMES

Quote

Longtime customers say goodbye to Sportsmen's Lodge

On New Year's Day, the Sportsmen's Lodge and its collection of well-known eateries, including the Caribou Restaurant, Muddy Moose Bar & Lounge and a handful of banquet rooms, will be temporarily shut down for remodeling. A new owner plans to reopen the historic venue in Studio City as a modern restaurant and boutique shopping center, perhaps with a new name.

Out with the old - in with the new!

Tradition.

<sigh>

I find this sad.  I've been going there since I was just a wee thing.

DR Jose, the cheesecake story made me laugh.

Thanks for the photo of the liver.  Just the other day Bryan was discussing the difference between a normal sized liver and the oversized one on the cadaver he is studying.
