The casting of Matt Smith as The Doctor in Doctor Who certainly makes things... well, interesting.

For example, if they bring back Alex Kingston as River Song, it will pump a real cougar dynamic in her relationship with the Doctor, since Kingston is a full TWENTY YEARS older than Smith!

At least they're sticking to a "rule" that I noted some time back, that no two actors playing the Doctor have ever had the same first name. (In the canon stories - the Cushing films don't count.)

William, Patrick, Jon, Tom, Peter, Colin, Sylvester, Paul, Christopher, David and now Matt.

Say them all together quickly, and it all sounds rather chummy, don't it!

Hmmm re: the chicken salad sandwich.

I wasn't even thinking how to cook the chicken. I often grill it. But would not do it for chicken salad. Sometimes i just bake it. I've never poached chicken before.

The food processor sounds easy.

That's my day. I have very little to report at the moment except that this is the 10th Day of Christmas. Two more to go!

The last review DVD in my queue is WITHOUT A PADDLE: NATURE'S CALLING which I learned from reading the press release that came along with it is actually a made-for-DVD requel to the 2004 theatrical movie. It looks very lame, and I've decided that I'm taking another day off. Since I have nothing else in the offing (nothing came in the mail yesterday), I should have no trouble doing this one tomorrow instead of today.

ANother reason I want to take today off is that I now have quite a bit of stuff on the DVR. I recorded the season premiere of THE STARTER WIFE from the Universal HD channel. (My cable service doesn't offer USA-HD which is one reason why I wasn't eager to watch it when it premiered in the fall). So, I'll watch this first episode while I eat lunch today and decide if I want to continue with the series off of Universal-HD.

I have JUMPER which I recorded off HBO-HD last night.

I recorded Charles Laughton's Oscar-winning THE PRIVATE LIFE OF HENRY VIII this morning off TCM. I haven't seen the film in decades, so primitive though it is, I'm eager to see it again.

Tonight on TCM is THE TALES OF HOFFMAN which I've never seen. I don't have the Criterion disc of it, and watching this at some point will help me decide if I want to buy it.

I'm very much a fan of this film. I love Offenbach and it's a reasonable account of his original opera. Some of the sequences are really brilliant and some look like the work of a demented and really gay window dresser on an unlimited budget. At times the English translation sounds very Gilbert&Sullivan-y but Sir thomas Beecham and the cast - both dubbed abd danced - is quite excellent.

The Man From Hong Kong sounded familar to me, but I didn't remember seeing it under that title. So I did some web surfing and the title "THE DRAGON FLIES" came up. They must of tried to cash in on the Bruce Lee movies Enter the Dragon and the Return of the Dragon.

Jimmy Wang Yu was the star. He is almost a forgotten star of the genre here in the USA. He was one of the first Hong Kong fight stars that had control of his films. He directed and produced many of his films

He also did a series of films as the one-armed boxer. He did one my guilty pleasure movies THE MASTER OF THE FLYING GUILOTINE

His popularity seemed to decline (although he continued to work until the early 90's) in the late 70's

They also used one of his films for Kung Pow: Enter the Fist, They digital removed him and replaced with Steve Orderkirk (sp?)

Well, Mr. Boxer (no I haven't thought of a name, DR Jose) is still here.

I posted him on the pounds web site for lost dogs last night before I went to bed and on Craigs list this morning. I've already heard from the pound (I didn't know they worked on Sunday). They had someone who is looking for a lost boxer but it is a female.

After talking with her for awhile we decided that the best thing I can do is turn him into the pound (now don't panic--there's a good couple of reasons) on Wednesday when they are open until 6.

The good reasons being:

1) they will keep him for 5 days to give the owner a chance to claim him.
2) most people who really are looking for their lost dog go to the pound.
3) I can put my name on him as first pick if no one does claim him.
4) If no one does claim him then the pound will call me and if I say I want him (and I will), they will give him a checkup, test for heart worms, give him his rabies shot, his tag, a micro chip and they will fix him. The cost to me would only be the $75.00 adoption fee.
5) Also if I adopt him from the pound, he will legally be mine.

So unless someone claims him before Wednesday, that is what I plan on doing.

Today I get to go to rehab!!! Some of the most fun of my week. Drive up the coast to Malibu, on this beautiful day... then drive up the mountain to the mansion... walk through the gardens... lay out art supplies, greet the addicts, play with crayons, while listening to birdsongs. Ah....

Isn't it funny how your life can take an unexpected turn in the space of just 24 hours?

I was going to take Sheena to the dog park but she didn't really need to go. Her and Mr. Boxer are wearing each other out in the back yard. He grabbed one of her toys and she was chasing him all around the yard trying to get it back. All in fun--no problems with fighting or anything like that.

His only problems are that he likes to jump up on me (I will stop that if he becomes my dog) and he's trying to do the nasty with Sheena. She puts him in his place when he does that. Thank goodness she is spayed!

The only thing that can get in the way of a permanent bond is that he will find his family again, which would be a blessing for him and them... and having him at the shelter means you are not falling in love every minute of every day.
