Hurray! It is raining in Phoenix. A very light, slow, long drizzle. Perfect for wildflower germination.

DR TCB thinks of Austria as a Germin nation I think!

Three times! I had to read this three times...all for a <groan>.

Do they allow groaning in Austr'ia?

I am still agog at the idea of the show that DR DRUXY mentioned yesterday....the one that featured Pat Harrington, Eddy Arnold, and Billy deWolfe.

It wasn't Pat Harrington.  It was Hugo Montenegro.
Hugo Montenegro, Billy DeWolfe and Eddy Arnold?!   What kinf of gig would those three have done together?

Well FJL, it's just you and me at the moment.  I think your show idea scared everyone else off.

It's apparently in a book called "Broadway Vamps & Sirens," which has an intersting mix of songs.  So i won't have to get the whole Pal joey score.

Back from Gelson's.  All I wanted was three chicken tenders - there were fourteen people ahead of me in the deli section - all these awful, spoiled Studio City mothers who couldn't ever be bothered to actually lift a finger and cook for their families.  The two of them basically wiped out the twenty-five chicken tenders that were there - so I disgustedly tossed my number and got some Jambalaya from the hot food section, along with some eggs just in case the Jambalaya is no good.  And I got some cucumber roll, too.  I should have just bailed and gone to Subway but, you know, I was there.

I hate moving. The worst thing about it is clearing out and going through all the crap you've accumulated for the past 30 years.

And, my wife is a stern task master.

"Do you really need this?...How about this?"

 :(

She sounds like Keith  ;D

I did that when I left my house at the lake. Not only did I have what I had accumulated but boxes and boxes of what my mother had saved for me over the years.  I had a contractor friend bring over a dump truck and just started throwing. I didn't let my mother come over while I did it.  I threw out a lot of junk. Nothing valuable or family stuff.  It wasn't easy but man it felt good when I was done.

I wondered why Micky Rourke looks so bad. 5 years of boxing really did take a toll

Not to mention all those years of drinking and drugging.

Quoth George yesterday:

About 10 or 12 years ago, a friend of mine wanted to do some drag and I suggested the first two songs.  He liked them very much.  I also love the last song.

"Night, Make My Day" from Casino Paradise

"No Man Left for Me" from The Will Rogers Follies

'I Had a Ball" (the solo version) from I  Had a Ball

Shouldn't that last song have more properly been "I Had Two Balls"?

Well, since Karen Morrow sings the song, I don't think so. ;)

I could use a few vibes.  I really need a morning appointment with a doctor.  I've never had one before but I'm pretty sure I have a bladder infection.

I can't even remember any of the junk I have thrown out. Except for the dryer. But that's because it was a real chore to move to the alley.

well I must say I would not wish chemo or its side effects on my worst enemy - not even the McBeths

I sincerely pray that Laura's sister has an easier time with her treatment than I am.

Apparently  I am a delicate flower and everything they do causes utmost distress to my system - I always thought I was the strong rugged type so I am quite suprosed by this turn of events.  My sympathies are (and yours should be) really with Vixdad who has the burden of caring for me.

Mr. Boxer is a very lucky dog to have run into your house DR Danise! It is obviouse that it has been awhile since someone cared about him and you have enough caring to go around to several doggies!

Sorry DR DRUXY....as I was typing the names, something didn't sound right.....and indeed the actual LINE UP is even more ... eclectic.

I understood the Paul Peterson reference DR TOMovOZ, as you knew I would.  I loved the episode of Donna Reed when Paul sang the song and it was acted out with a girl eventually ending up with a stack of STUFF taller than Paul next to her.

MR BK if there are more than five people in front of me anywhere - I bail......

What is this throwing away stuff that everyone is talking about?  I don't get the concept of the thing...is it some new ritual....or it's a technical term you picked up in the theatrical profession, no doubt.

I'm wondering if DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES will be on time here, since for some reason the canadian station showing it has football till 8pm. And another show from 8-9pm.  It's odd because the whole season when TAR was on we never had football on this station!

Also for some reason, this same canadian station is showing THE MENTALIST (tues's show) at 10pm. Usually their sister station shows it (i don't get the sister station).  So i guess i'll be checking the football game to see what time it ends!

Tonight on TCM is THE TALES OF HOFFMAN which I've never seen. I don't have the Criterion disc of it, and watching this at some point will help me decide if I want to buy it.

I'm very much a fan of this film. I love Offenbach and it's a reasonable account of his original opera. Some of the sequences are really brilliant and some look like the work of a demented and really gay window dresser on an unlimited budget. At times the English translation sounds very Gilbert&Sullivan-y but Sir thomas Beecham and the cast - both dubbed abd danced - is quite excellent.

There's a difference?
