I'm having fun watching the Golden Globes and making a list of things to add to our Netflix list:

Burn After Reading
Bernard & Doris

I just added the best foreign film, Vals Im Bashir', to my queue.  I'm wondering what else should be added.

I really liked "Waltz with Bashir".  From December 29, 2008:

Quote
As I was walking by Lincoln Plaza, I noticed that "Waltz with Bashir" was about to start, so... "Waltz with Bashir" I did.

What an amazing piece of film-making. It manages to be a cartoon/animated feature, a memory piece, a documentary and analysis of the troubles in Palestine in the early 1980's, particularly the massacre of a whole town/camp of Palestinians by Christian Phalangists.

The use of animation is used expertly to "portray" the recent past both realistically (as in news accounts) and in very personal, post-trauma-tinged memories and dreams. It managed to be Academic and entertaining at the same time.

Well, if Slumdog Millionaire doesn't come to a theater near me, it's available on DVD in February.  It won screenplay and apparently the director made the screenplay soar.

On DVD in February?!?!? That soon?!?!?  Really?

Yup, I put it in my Netflix queue and it says available Feb 2009.  It may be more specific on Amazon, haven't checked

Ah, Netflix must still be using the "old" release date.  Before the movie started gaining "buzz" in Hollywood, there was a chance that the movie was going to straight to DVD here in the States.  Needless to say, with the film's current popularity and award-worthiness, I'm betting that the DVD release will be pushed back by a couple of weeks.  *And Amazon has no projected release date listed.

Yeah, I can't find that release date anywhere else, but I'll leave it in my queue and who knows...

I have to say, the slimmed-down Seth Rogen looked quite hunky tonight in his tuxedo.

This has been the highlight of the evening for me....and yes, I did switch channels.  Now we are seeing a tribute to Mr Spielberg who is being presented the Cecil B DeMille Award.

RE: "Bernard and Doris" - It was originally aimed for a theatrical release, but then was sent right to cable, HBO.  And I believe it still shows up on some of the HBO "decks" from time to time, as well as via "On Demand".  -But the DVD was released last April.

Hmm... So, I'm still wondering if David Duchovny's correction of the pronunciation of the last name of the composer, A. R. Rahman, was actually a correction or a bad, failed joke?

Maybe DR MBarnum can chime in here: Is "Rahman" pronounced "roo-min"?  ???

Well, Jose, I've checked for updates (none), I've shut down, and I just tried copying the image code and it's not taking, so something is amiss and it ain't with ME.

BK, when you copy the image code from Photobucket, are you relying on the website's automatic copy or do you do an actual copy (Cntrl + "C" on a PC, I donno what on a MAC.)  I've often found that Photobucket's autocopy doesn't always work so I do a manual copy and paste of the code.

Also, are you copying the code from the fourth box of code labled "IMG Code"?  THat's the one that includes the

You mean this, DR Dan (the Man)?

What the hell was I doing?

DR DRUXY - I know two friends who joined DIRECT BUY.

Both made some major purchases.  One friend bought an entire EXPENSIVE dining room set, table and eight chairs, buffet and china cabinet, and a side board.

Three of the chairs were back ordered and arrived six months later, one of the glass windows in the china cabinet was broken, and the WHOLE thing had to be returned to be repaired....

The other person bought a bedroom set with several pieces.....which arrived piece meal over a period of about three months.

Neither was happy and would not recommend DIRECT BUY.....but I only have this SECOND HAND experience.

I am not watching the Golden Globe Awards either....

Thanks for the information.

We have decided to pass.

Think I'll recommend The Reader as my book group's book/movie selection for our traditional August anniversary celebration.

I must Rumer Willis is looking better than I have ever seen her.

And even though I don't like the win, I think Tina Fey said something very funny:

"If you ever get to feeling really good about yourself and thinking you are all that, there's this place called the inner net - where you can go and find lots of people who REALLY don't like you."

Or you could also suggest "Q & A" ("Slumdog Millionaire"), "Revolutionary Road".... ;)

She's going to get a lot more flames now, she told off several of them by screen name.  That's enough to really get them going, lol.
