Ok, I swear I'm going to be better about reading posts now.  But boy it has it been a crazy week.
What a night last night was, I am exhausted!  I brought Toby in yesterday morning for his 10 am 4 month check-up.  I noticed his breathing was getting more and more labored, so we went in early because I was getting antsy about it.  The nurses heard him and immediately were really concerned.  The doctor came in and said "Ok, I'm sending you over to the Children's Hospital ER.  The hospital is connected to my Group Health building by an under-street tunnel, so we just picked up our stuff and a nurse walked us over.
We spent six hours sitting in the ER so they could monitor his condition.  His oxygen levels were good, but he was really having to work hard to keep them there.  They gave him a few breathing treatments, not albuterol, but just stuff to help loosen up all the gunk in his lungs.  Poor little guy just coughed and coughed.  They also used their turbo-nose sucker to help suction out a lot of the stuff in there.
By about 4 pm, he was sounding a lot better, but they decided to err on the side of caution and admit him for the night to keep an eye on him.
His preemie history meant that he's prone to respiratory things, and they wanted him in the hospital in case things went downhill quickly.
So Toby and I sat in a little room in the Observation Unit all night.  They did three more breathing treatments on him. and he coughed a lot. slept a bit, and nursed a ton.
I slept maybe two hours total, since I spent most of the night sitting up in a chair rocking him.  In the morning they decided he was looking better, breathing better, and still eating normally, so we could go home.  We have a follow up appointment next week, but the pedi in the hospital said he was pretty sure that we were over the worst of it, and he'd start getting better from now on.  I sure hope so!!

There's definitely something wrong.   The crop circle is missing.

And the baseball field with Shoeless Joe...oh wait, this isn't Iowa....

Slow morning.  I decided to make the difficult decision I had to make - which is, I'm afraid, to cancel the upcoming Kritzerland limited edition of Lady Oscar.  We hit a last-minute legal snag and while I'm basically in the right, I don't want to deal with bullies - it's simply not worth it.  I don't make enough money on these for it to be worth any hassles at all.  So, we're moving on to the release that was slated to follow that, and I'm hoping we can have it ready to announce in about two weeks.  I've got everyone working overtime on it.

I've written only a page and a half, but, as it turns out, I'd done eleven yesterday, so even if I only do two or three more, I'm in great shape.  I did do a bunch of rewriting of yesterday's pages, so that's done and they're smoother now, and I'm heading to the end of another chapter, which I'll definitely finish today.

I'm glad it's Friday.  Too bad I have Monday booked solid with jail visits, appointments and a trip to the dentist and Tuesday will be about a 12 hour +day between an immigration hearing (can't stop deportations for a measly inauguration) and other work obligations that will keep me busy until at least 10:00 PM.   So, I'll miss the holiday and the inauguration.  Oh well, if anything exciting happens, I'm sure it will be repeated on TV ad nasuem.

Which God willing, he will outgrow. Parent's in the "good old days" probably didn't have to put up with much of what you do - but their preemies never came home from the hospital.

I am way behind on everything as usual.  First, good vibes to all who need them.  I also just realized that I forgot to send my former mother-in-law a birthday card.  Which means I'll actually have to call her and listen to her for awhile!

Can anyone give me the correct spelling of a word that is used in conjunction with Bossa Nova the music of Antonio Carlos Jobim that sounds like "soldage", having to do with nostalgia? I have googled different spellings and can't find it, but I figured JMK, bk or someone else here might know. ( I know JMK has a busy day today and might not be around!)
