I found the real story after posting the email. Thanks for all the extra info, DR Jose!
You're welcome, DR edisaurus.
*A friend of mine spent last week back in Atlanta visiting his family. He had some "suggestions" for me: Inman Perk, West Egg, and Fat Matt's BBQ. -Any thoughts?
I almost took you to West Egg for brunch before you left, (it's the place that has the Coca Cola cupcakes) but it is usually so crowded you have to wait for at least a half-hour. It is good, but my favorite breakfast place is this:
http://www.suninmybelly.com/simbcafe.html We went there just yesterday. I took my little French boy there recently, too. Soooo goooood.
Also near West Egg, a favorite dinner place:
http://www.jctkitchen.com/ (I've posted this before). West Egg and JCT are near Flip, which we hope to try soon. That area seems to be a popular place for new restaurants...it's also near Bacchanalia, everybody's favorite (pricey) restaurant:
http://www.starprovisions.com/Fat Matt's is very close to our house and is our favorite quick BBQ. They don't have a huge selection but what they do have is great, and the music is usually good. They used to have a place next door for fried chicken and catfish which we loved, because it had great collards and other veggies, but they have been closed for months with no clue as to when/if they will ever re-open.
For old school BBQ (and the best cornbread!)

For new, with yummy sides

Haven't been to Inman Perk, but there is a coffee shop we like, also near the West Egg area, called Octane. A few of the baristas from our Marietta coffee shop ended up there:
http://www.octanecoffee.com/ There is a lot going on there besides coffee, and you can follow it all on Twitter. We may watch the ceremony there tomorrow.
Does this make me a gourmand-in-training?
