THE MENTALIST did seem to have audio problems last night.  It happened right after each commercial break.  Since I had never seen the show before, I started to think that it might be a conscious choice on their part.

Glad to know it wasn't just my local affiliate screwing up the audio. I believe there is a Dolby Digital switch they have to throw, and if they don't, you get the surround channels without the center channel (which contains the dialog).

I did watch THE MENTALIST while I ate lunch. A very enjoyable episode with lots of Patrick's patented "mentalist" tricks which always makes for a lively hour. (I didn't like his boss' comment "Oh, he's just showing off." She should not mock abilities which have solved cases for them time and again.) Not the best mystery they've done but an enjoyable episode nevertheless.

I watched seven more episodes of CHEERS. Another great group of guest stars dropping by including Peter MacNichol, Spanky MacFarlane, Frances Sternhagen, Pat Hingle, and Harry Anderson.

And in the episode with Woody running for city council, who should interview him but Peri Gilpin who'd be tapped to be on FRASIER the following year. That's both John Mahoney and Peri Gilpin doing guest star stints on the show the season before they were recruited for FRASIER. Wonder if David Hyde Pierce is going to show up in one of the remaining six episodes?

I ended the afternoon watching last Thursday's THE OFFICE. FINALLY, Andy has been clued in to what was going on with Angela and Dwight. I really haven't found this triangle all that funny, especially since Angela didn't seem to care for Andy at all, and I hated seeing him being strung along, irritating though he often is.

I saw that THE MENTALIST started 20+ minutes late, so I set the DVR to record the next two programs after the scheduled end of THE MENTALIST just to make sure I got the entire episode.

The opening of THE MENTALIST didn't look right & the background sound was there but we couldn't hear them speaking.  The sound improved with only one slight lapse.   Eventually we figured out we only had the last half of the show.

How did we end up with the second half when it began 20 minutes late?  Not that I'm complaining.  I would rather miss the first half than the second.

What time did you record it at?

It was delayed (because of football on the east coast).

But i'd imagine it might have started on time (10pm) on the West Coast (or whatever time it was scheduled at).

I was just flipping through the channels and noticed Lin-Manuel Miranda doing the "e" is a ninja thing on Electric Company.  I heard he was going to do that, but it was funny to see it.

I just ordered the Martin Hello, Dolly! recording.  Do they have any others like that - other stuff that's never been released on CD?  I find their site almost impossible to search.

Go to their search page and type under the composer lists the composer of the show you're interested in, e.g. "Jerry Herman" or "Richard Rodgers." They also have the Pearl Bailey HELLO DOLLY!

It's a lousy system.

I'm going to write for a little while and then head back down to hopefully finish CHEERS and then watch two episodes of THE STARTER WIFE that are on the DVR. I also still have SMALLVILLE and MONK to get to eventually.

THE MENTALIST did seem to have audio problems last night.  It happened right after each commercial break.  Since I had never seen the show before, I started to think that it might be a conscious choice on their part.

At first we thought it was intentional.  I briefly wondered if the other person in the room with the stars was deaf.

Back from the long jog.  It's quite nice out now, probably in the mid-70s.  I really don't like it when there's no mail.  I shall now write another page or two.

Our regular shows are programed to record whenever they are on, 1st run episodes only.  I went to see when the next episode is on & could only find the pilot airing at 9:00.  I'm guessing that was the time.

If a game messed up the shows maybe it began half an hour early on the west coast.  Our system thought it recorded the entire show.  Instead we got the 1st half hour of something else following the last half hour of THE MENTALIST.

Hear Patti Lupone stop the show in the incident involving a photographer in the audience that DR Matthew referred to last week: HERE.

Someone once provided me with a nice link to all the re-issued cast albums on ArchivMusic, but darned if I can find it right now.  And their web site setup really stinks.

Sorry to have appeared to be sitting here like so much fish all afternoon.  The realtor called and we left immediately to meet her at the house, which I liked even better this time.  However, it's under a contract that's conditional upon the sale of about 3 houses.  It's been under contract since mid-October and, apparently, one of the parties along the line just lost a job.  At least now Jenny knows what my practically-perfect-in-every-way house looks like.

After we left there, I went out to my mom's to deliver some groceries she'd asked me to get for  her and she and I went on a Vera Bradley errand.  Now, we're awaiting Rob and Mary Linda for dinner - oven stroganoff, and it sure smells good!
