Atlantic City Report #3: There are a lot of casinos in Atlantic City, and a lot of casino carpets.  In fact, most casinos seemed to have at least three different carpet patterns, one for each area: table games, slots, and Asian games.

I cannot express how proud I am to have made a difference in someone's life.

I have a yen to watch ELAINE STRITCH:  AT LIBERTY tonight.  And I wonder,  are there any ootlegbays floating around of Bea Arthur's ON BROADWAY (or whatever it was called...)

Why am I thinking that when they recorded Bea Arthur on Broadway: Just Between Friends for the audio/CD release, that they had also done a video-taping of it for commercial release too?  But that the video-taping took place during the Los Angeles engagement of the show.  ???

Actually, I really do want to Thank You, DR Laura, for making a difference in my life.  It was quite fun heading into each casino with the goal being to take pictures of the carpets, and not to gamble.  I did eventually play some video roulette, but that was only after I had made the rounds of the casinos.  It was also the perfect motivation and reason to take a good walk after the almost six-hour car ride up from Richmond.

All in all, it was a great way to get reacquainted with Atlantic City after 25+ years.

Thank You.

DR DerBrucer - Ah, yes, Joan Nathan, not Alice Waters was the one whom Tom Colicchio heimlich'd.  I guess I still had Alice Waters on the brain due to the recent criticisms of Anthony Bourdain.

And I'm guessing that was a "return" engagement to the El Portal since I believe she was also there back in 2004 during the run of What If?

I really wish that David Kross who portrays the younger Michael Berg (Ralph Fiennes) was receiving more praise and notice for his work. In fact, I think he actually spends just as much time on screen - if not more - than Mr. Fiennes.  -I also found it a little hard to believe that "David Cross" would grow up to be "Ralph Fiennes", especially when "Kate Winslett" grew up to be "Kate Winslett".  ;)

Did your family think you were nuts?

First of all, my parents already know I'm nuts.  They've known that for years.  -And I just confirmed that fact for them as I took pictures of my "Crab Pretzel" at lunch and the buffet at dinner.  However, they did not accompany me on my "Casino Carpet Adventure".  I believe they headed back to the penny slots.  And are still there.

Did you set your monkey on the carpet and take a photo? Or is that adventure for another day?

Frankly, since I saw "what" was walking on those carpets, I spared monkey from that ordeal. ;)

*And isn't there some way you could request a court order to make him stay home?  ;)

I think his office staff may be better at that than a court order.   I'm thinking maybe he just has to go in to realize they have everything under control...that's what i'm hoping anyway

Just finished watching IN BRUGES.  Surprisingly, at least to me, I liked it. If you can get past the fact that ever other word is a curse word and the main characters are hit men...
Oh, if you do rent it, watch the special features.  Who knew Bruges was such a fascinating town

As for the Topic of the Day...

Hmm...

Patrick Duffy ("The Man from Atlantis").  I think.

Although, I also remember being infatuated with "Wally McAndless"* on "Capitol".  Actually, the eye candy on "Capitol" was pretty good across the board.

*Sadly, Bill Beyers died from an "AIDS-related illness" back in 1992.

This is a little morbid - While Googling for information on "Capitol", I came across this page:
