Cold here, too. I had to put on a sweater today.

I'm sure it will help.

The sheriff did indeed have an inmate transported via light rail for the media today.

"For the media" being the important thing for the sheriff ;)

The old guard skating commentators (Scott Hamilton and Sandra Bezic) were certain Johnny Weir would be offered the third spot on the men's team despite his abysmal performance.

They did suggest, after the fact, that he would have better off taking a "sick-bye" on the Nationals than sucking it up - and than falling flat on his face.

der Brucer

If the three men who finished as the top three had been mediocre skaters or had skated as poorly as Johnny did, then I might concede that his track record might earn him a spot, but with the three of them being far stronger at this year's event than Johnny, it really was a no-brainer if they wanted to give the U.S. the best possible chance to earn 3 spots at next year's Worlds.

Back from the meeting.  I was still so full from lunch that I only had a bowl of fruit.

The problem with doing major Broadway revivals or movie remakes is that you're always competing with the memory of the original.

Even if the remake is better, it will always lose.

There are, of course, exceptions, but that is generally the case.

I understand that the recent revival of SOUTH PACIFIC was terrific, but when you think of that show, you still think of Mary Martin and Enzio Pinza.

who?

LOL Michael.
I think John Kerr & Mitzi! (and unfortunately the sky colours!)

Well...

DRs Sandra and Laura (and others) have their "floop".

DR Ron Pulliam has his "goop".

But did you know that Gwyneth Paltrow also has her own GOOP?

In any case...

Since I don't read the chat boards... Has the identity of the photographer been discussed or released yet?  Talk about a true kicker!

WOW!

I just started watching the late rebroadcast of "Chopped" on The Food Network.  I had caught the end of it earlier, and thought I had recognized one of the chefs.  Well, after watching the intros, it turns out I do know him!  I knew the name sounded familiar, but as soon as he said he used to be an actor - and then they showed a headshot of his, well... I went to school with him!  And he's a chef here in NYC!  -Guess I need to make dinner reservations sometime soon. ;)

HI HHW Friends! Sorry to always be errant and truant. Hope everyone is doing well!

Heads up: If anyone is (shockingly) going to be in the Harrisonburg, Virginia area on Friday, February 13th, I'm doing my Junior Half Performance Recital!

My rep list:

Le Manoir de Rosemonde, Duparc
La Flute de Pan, Debussy
Von Ewiger Liebe, Brahms
The Vain Suite Duet, Brahms
Non Piu Mesta, Rossini
Toothbrush Time, Bolcom
Tale of the Oyster, Porter

I'd love to have you!

Also, the choirs at James Madison University will be performing a concert on Sunday, March 29th at 2:00pm at the Kennedy Center in DC! It's going to be a beautiful concert featuring the Madison Singers performing Menotti's Unicorn, Gorgon, and the Manticore. Tickets will be cheap! Come see!

:)

Got back an hour or so ago from Philly after seeing the fabulous MY NAME IS ASHER LEV.  Rode in automotive comfort with Dear friends Bill and Maureen, and their delightful friend Kate - and managed to hit only light snow during the drive back.

Question:  When a video like that LuPone Freakout remix video manages ot get so many views (was it 140,000), is that often an indication that it is a "promoted video" for which the person who put up the video pays for each hit to the video?

Actually, if Lysacek couldn't go to World's, I'd have given the 4th place finisher -- Ryan Bradley -- the nod.  The men's champ, the 2nd place finisher (who won the long program) and Bradley all have the same coach.  I think that fact plus the fact they'd all be training together might have resulted in something fantastic at World's.
