Gosh--I'm reading everyone's lists of favorite British actors and I see how many that I didn't think of that I also love.

Though I'm also seeing a couple mistakes, if we are speaking strictly about the British (and how else can one speak about the British but strictly?)

That's what I was thinking so I checked out Miss Lansbury to make sure. I know that she spent time in Ireland in the 80s and I wanted to make sure she is not like Mr. Victor Herbert or Mr. George Bernard Shaw or Mr. Oscar Wilde of Irish desecent.

I am sad to hear about the Kentucky Repertory Theatre in danger of closing.....but a couple of things in the article bothered me - in addition to the facts.....

They have a subscription base of 500 and a budget of $600,000 - and they attract 30,000 people...and yet nobody gets "paid much."  And the artistic director says that a season of "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof" and "Hamlet" is unthinkable.

What the hell kind of plays do they do?  Did they do "High School Musical" last year?

I was looking at their website - the productions they have photos for certainly don't look like they spend a lot of money on values....but it is a professional theatre, so they do have Equity salaries....not much money, but a BIG bite of the budget, I'm sure.

Sorry the core actors and administrators and staff of eleven will lose their jobs....but maybe they can do "Cindersmella", "Cash on Delivery", and "Christmas Belles" someplace else.  Or maybe DR CP can go down there and straighten them out.

On the other hand, today is the 200th anniversary of the Walnut Street Theatre here in Philly, which has had an incredibly successful run since the 80s mostly by producing productions of classic plays and musicals.

No, Ms Lansbury is indeed British (though I had to check, too--I thought she had been born in Australia.)

Some others who share my (and Iris' birthday are)

James Joyce 1882. Jascha Heifetz 1901. Burton Lane 1912. Stefan Schnabel 1912. Liz Smith 1923. Tommy Smothers 1937. Farrah Fawcett 1947. Jessica Savitch 1948. Brent Spiner 1949. Christie Brinkley 1954. Holly Hunter 1958. Cady Huffman 1965. Jennifer Westfeldt 1971. Marisa Jaret Winokur 1973

I've seen various dates for Mr. Spiner, ranging from 1949 to 1955. I'll leave it at 1949.

Good morning!

We're supposed to have some rain later, but it doesn't look that way now: bright and shiny and a high today near 60 (though it falls rather drastically after today for the next few days.)

This is amusing:

I'm the February "Artist of the Month" on The Digital Bits website.

http://www.thedigitalbits.com/artist/0209/aom0209.html

Why is that amusing?

Because I can't draw a straight line...sometimes not even with a ruler.

My work project today is indeed the Blu-ray of PRETTY WOMAN. There are a few old bonus features (including a commentary) ported over from previous DVD releases, so since the movie is two hours (too long as I recall), I suspect I won't finish with those bonus features until this evening before prime time TV starts.
