DR Elmore - if resting is what you feel like doing, that's what you should do. I'm glad your procedure went so well, but I think the medical folks are too glib about how great you're supposed to feel once it's over. Most of them are too young to have been through it themselves.

Great news, DR Vixmom! The best advice I ever received about going back to work part-time after medical leave was to go in for the second half of the day. That way, you're not tempted to stay all day before you're really up to it.

I watched CASTLE while I ate lunch. I was a bit turned off by the overdone character set-ups for Castle showing him to be the overage frat boy whose daughter is more mature than he is. I caught on very quickly and didn't need such an over elaborate build-up. Once the case got going, it was a fun crime investigation. I don't think Castle is quite as interesting a character as Jane on THE MENTALIST (the tones of the shows are very similar), but overall I enjoyed the episode and will continue watching.

Next I watched TO CATCH A THIEF. Always an enjoyable film, very frothy and light despite its darker underbelly. The transfer is gorgeous, Technicolor looking very lush and sharpness terrific for DVD. And the image is certainly the cleanest I've ever seen the film look, too.

All those striped shirts and sweaters that Cary and Brigitte wear in the first half of the movie used to play havoc with my TV, but except for just a little moiré, they're very solid now. On Blu-ray, there likely wouldn't be the least bit of pattern artifacts.

This new release of TO CATCH A THIEF is one that bk would best stay far away from. Dr. Drew Casper not only contributes the gushing audio commentary, but the first bonus feature I watched was a Q&A session he moderated in November 2008 with Hitchcock's daughter and one of his granddaughters answering questions from the audience about him.

I didn't have time yet to watch today's AS THE WORLD TURNS, but I forgot to mention last night that I did watch yesterday's, and the boys weren't there nor were they in the previews for today. So I'm guessing later today I'll be zooming through today's show.

The Blu-ray of BOLT arrived around 3 p.m. this afternoon (I was already listening to Dr. Drew Casper when it arrived), so that will be my work project for tomorrow. It comes out a week from today whereas TO CATCH A THIEF doesn't come out until March 24th, but since I had already started it, I'll finish it.

We watched last night, and now der B is watching it again!

The two leads are interesting, his family has potential. The weak points as far as characters right now are her two partners and her boss - not much character built in there yet. The medical examiner sparked in her two scenes, though.

Did you catch who the other poker players were? Talk about good cameo placement!

I'm glad to hear the color is better, because that one had a horrid and really overdone green tint in many scenes - the outcry about it was heard, however, and I believe it's been corrected for this release. That said, the original DVD, while not very good, had excellent color, and I'm hoping this is at least as good as that.

Here's a question for our musical theater collectors, and it's not to go ANY further than this board - would the 1960s House Of Flowers be of interest as a CD release - I remember liking the LP very much, and it's never been on CD before and is purportedly available to me. But these things have to sell better than Anya has thus far or I'm not going to do any more shows. Right now, Anya has sold about half it's run, which isn't bad, but nowhere near what it needs to sell to have it be worthwhile. And I really don't know how to get out the word more than we have.

No, I didn't buy the last special edition (it came out before I was named the Paramount reviewer, so I didn't get to do it.) I like TO CATCH A THIEF, but it's not a Hitchcock I return to nearly as often as, say, VERTIGO, REAR WINDOW, THE MAN WHO KNEW TOO MUCH, STRANGERS ON A TRAIN, or even STAGE FRIGHT. So I was content with the original release.

The green is still pretty present in those scenes in the new transfer.

Re A Time For Singing - it's been virtually impossible for anyone to get into that catalog save for one person. However, today I did that person a huge favor and he just walked me in there, and I have formally put in a request for that title - it will take about six weeks for them to figure out all the legalities (they move slowly and need to ascertain that they have all the rights in the recording and have the right to license - I think they'll find that they do) - so that is now a real possibility. Hoping others pipe in on House of Flowers.
