[Hello, DR William F Orr! How are you and Joe doing?

Hi, elmore, and not bad = me.  A bit worse = Joe.  He has been hit with more medical problems in the last year and is very chagrinned at loss of time, activity, and productivity.  And said he is very upset I haven't been posting on hhw, and so here I am.

Well, don't be a stranger. I've missed you and thought of you often and fondly.

Well, bk, I like it.

LOVE the new blurb line.

Would it be less akward (less of a mouthful) if you eliminated the word "sensation"?

I agree: either "hit cult film" or "cult film sensation," which I prefer. Goes better with "acolytes." Speaking of acolytes, who was that ass again?

I'll give you a hint - the secret FSM release and my holy grail are by the same composer.

Is this person (a) still alive and, (b) if he is, is he still composing film scores?

Back to Bond...

I have always had an affection for On Her Majesty's Secret Service.  The only Bond film that makes me cry.  And I do think George Lazenby was a better Bond than Roger Moore, who thought he was still playing Simon Templar.

Not to mention, of course, that Diana Rigg is absolute perfection in everything she ever does, including that American sitcom she did in the '70's for about zero point six eight seconds.

But... back to Bond...

No fair using Internet tools for this one (which is how I learned it in the first place):  Trivia question:   Who was the first actor to play James Bond?

I've had a tasty luncheon of tuna salad on 15-grain bread and a green salad with Italian dressing. I'm copying a piano part - the world's longest - and making chicken soup. And, to be a real multi-tasker, I'm posting on HHW!

Oh, frabjous joy--our CPA just called and we are getting both a Federal and State refund this year, plus I have been so diligent in expensing down my self-employment income that I won't have quarterly estimated tax payments this year (at least until the fourth quarter, when we'll reassess).

Love, love, love the poster--would "A Newd Musical Comedy" scan better since "The" is in the title?

Agree with the other comments about dropping "sensation."  (Sensation! was the name of my first Tandy computer, LOL.  Betsy and I used to say it with the "!" in our voices).

You're my kind of people.   ;D

My friends and I used to do that in math class in 10th grade when we were studying factorials.

"5!" became "FIVE!"

Done with rehearsal, and now to pick another street or two to walk in downtown Charleston. Or something like that. ;)

Need opinions - the LA Festival of New Musicals asked for art on Nudie Musical - my designer came up with the following, which I think is fun, but what do you think - I came up with the little line under the title, and let me know if you think the based on line is too unwieldy - thoughts and suggestions, please, but I like the feel of it.

I have to agree with DR MS--the body looks disjointed--it almost looks as if she were being carted off by a man.

Also, there's a modestness about it.  I would think the poster should find a way to celebrate Nudie-ness in a clever way without covering it up.  It makes me think more of burlesque than of a nudie show.  And as abstract as the movie poster art was, I recall that that figure had a smile--this female figure does not look like she's enjoying herself. (She also nees to look more like a performer.)

Actually, now that I looked, I see that I meant the DVD artwork, not the original movie poster (though that looked fun, too.)

I've passed the comments along to the designer - we'll see what he thinks.  Meanwhile, I picked up the tapes - I've made an appointment on Monday to go listen to them - I think the story I heard a couple of years ago reflects what I'm seeing - the only question remains if any of the boxes are mis-labeled, and that's my hope.  So, I'll have to wait until Monday to find out the story.

bk - As for the "Nudie" art work, it looks a little GYPSY-ish to me. Was having a man and a woman on the poster an option?  Personally, I think the poster should be more about the "reaction" to the show - puzzled looks, shock, etc. with maybe a silhouette of the performer(s). Ooh, maybe even some sort of play on the "line logo" for A CHORUS LINE. It could just be a row of "heads" and "chests". ;D

Back from the long jog and will now go pick up tapes - and no, I don't think the title has been mentioned here.

I had been thinking it was the soundtrack to a movie that's recently had its first DVD release, but I guess I'm wrong about that.

I began my afternoon watching last night's SUPERNATURAL. A little too S&M for my taste, but it certainly held my attention. But it looks like we have the impetus for the rest of this season's episodes: Dean saving the world.

Much to my horror, frustration, and extreme disappointment, I did NOT receive the Blu-rays of THE ROBE and/or QUO VADIS. (I did get an Amazon order - ROXIE HART, which I ordered on Monday and got the shipping notice for on Tuesday evening. I got the shipping notice for the Blu-rays on Monday morning.

I agree with you!

At first I thought there was someone carrying a woman!

The curtain is way too important!

The nude body could be a little more exposed, I think! This is 2009 after all! :)

Also, I'd use "cult film sexsation" but then ... I am weird and French! ;)

So, I decided I'd just go ahead and work on DANTON all day today - afternoon and as far into the evening as it takes.

I didn't think I had ever seen the movie before, but a few minutes in, it was obvious I had seen it at a revival theater in the late 1980s. Depardieu is terrific in the film; the Polish actor playing Robespierre a little less so. (His French is dubbed as it's being played by a Polish actor in Polish.)

Then I started on the bonus features. The trailer was the only bonus on disc one. Disc two starts with a 42-minute behind-the-scenes documentary, and I'm about 2/3 of the way through that. There are several other bonus items with the set, but I have no idea how long they'll take to watch.
