I am an emotional puddle right now and an extremely happy boy - I just heard the Two For The Seesaw master - it's incredible-sounding, and the clarity of it is just breathtaking - I mean, this thing was recorded in 1962 and sounds better than any recording they make today. And the score - I just am addicted to it and cannot get enough of it - it's so beautifully written and orchestrated, and even though the three soloists, trumpet, sax, and trombone are spectacular, its those darned Previn French horns that get me every time. No one writes French horns like Previn - they're as much a Previn trademark as his jazz stuff. In fact, the first instruments you hear are French horns. If you're on the fence about this one, don't be - for me, it's the soundtrack release of the year, and NOT because I'M putting it out. It's now on the fast track to completion - master is being sent to the plant tomorrow, and I shall now finish the liner notes by Sunday - the credits and track titles are done, and I'm getting the designer most of what he needs tonight.
