The biggest snafu for me ever in a play happened during BIG RIVER. I was Judge Thatcher (among other roles), and in the opening number, I got pushed out onto the stage from a moving platform, so all I ever had to do when they called "places" was go sit in a chair. (Later in the number I did get up and move with the rest of the company). Anyway, we ran a month, and on one of the second or thrid weeks, I got onto the platform and didn't notice that I still had my bedroom slippers still on. (I had sort of high button shoes for my costume and had forgotten to put them on; they were very uncomfortable.) I did the entire opening number in bedroom slippers.

I'll be working on NO COUNTRY FOR OLD MEN on Blu-ray today, the next Collector's Edition. Eager to see what additional bonus features will get added to what was on last year's Blu-ray release.

TOD:

One of the immediate things that comes to mind (and there are sooooooooo many foolish waters from which to fish) is a time in grade school when I had the solo for some sort of student parent extravaganza, and a moth flew into my moth.  Not knowing what to do, I swallowed the moth.

After all the show must go on!!!!!

I think we've had a similar TOD before, because I think I've posted this before, but I will do so again.  Ah, memories.

Not really "foolish" per se, but two horrible/funny things happened whilst I was playing Bill Sykes in OLIVER!  The director had decided to have me use my own dog, a Basset Hound, for Bill's dog.  And she had done very well in rehearsals.  On opening night she must have "caught wind" of the audience, because as soon as I took her out in Act II (which opened with me singing MY NAME, IIRC), she just freaked out and refused to move, digging her claws into the stage.  I handed her leash to one of the ensemble, sang my song, and then proceeded into the dialogue scene.  I motioned to the ensemble member to take the dog off the stage.  Instead this idiot girl walked her around the stage and then brought her back and handed her to me.  Now the problem is, the set was gigantic, with two sets of stairs leading up and out into the wings.  And that's how I had to make my exit.  So here I am dragging my poor dog, who did not want to move, literally yanking her up an endless flight of stairs.  It was in the early days of laveliers (am I dating myself?), and the sound tech unfortunately forgot to turn my mic off, so the entire chaste Mormon SLC audience was treated to me whispering fervently, "Come on, you f***ing dog!"

Moment two, from the same show.  One performance the retractable knife did not retract when I stabbed Nancy.  And due to one of those horrble things that seem to occur now and again, the actress had her head in a slightly different position than she usually did and I hit her lip.  It split wide open and a gush of blood literally spurted up and over both of our heads.  The audience thought it was a special effect and "ooh'd" and "aah'd" and actually applauded.

I made some changes in the On TV TOnight!™  chart since I had mixed in some reruns there thinking they were new episodes. This clears out a bunch of stuff to record for me tonight.

I have some definite computer maintenance things to attend to, so let me get on it and then head down to check the mail and fix some lunch.

Big weight off my back: I just (hopefully) closed my dad's estate.

Oh DR elmore3003, I am so pleased for you!  No need to deal with the Macbeths ever again?   :)

A few months ago, there were nine people sitting in cubicles in my little corner of the office floor.

There are now only three.          :P

April Fool's Day greetings!  This morning I had a coffee visit with my friend Becky, then I introduced her to Kathryn's Home Accents, one of my favorite shops here in Middletown.  They have a lot of nice things on consignment (furniture, dishes, etc.) and they're a Vera Bradley dealer.

Last night, Rob and Mary Linda arrived from their Michigan spring break, which was extended a couple of days due to the death of her grandfather.  The came here directly from the funeral, crashed for the night, and left early this morning to catch up with their spring quarter classes (which started Monday) at UC.

Preorders start right now - you know the drill - $19.98 plus $3.75 shipping to kritzerland at adelphia dot net via paypal.com.  Given the dealer preorders, this one should go pretty quickly - and again, you have the BK stamp of approval that this is something you will LOVE!

TWO FOR THE SEESAW – THE CLASSIC ANDRE PREVIN SCORE MAKES ITS CD DEBUT!

Kritzerland is proud to present its newest limited edition CD – the original motion picture soundtrack from Two For The Seesaw, with music by Andre Previn.

A true Kritzerland Holy Grail, Two For The Seesaw is one of Previn’s most beautiful scores.  The film, one of three that Previn scored in 1962 (the others were Long Day’s Journey Into Night and The Four Horsemen Of The Apocalypse), starred Shirley MacLaine and Robert Mitchum and was adapted from the hit play by William Gibson.  Robert Wise directed (fresh off his Academy Award-winning blockbuster, West Side Story).

Previn’s score is wonderfully evocative and haunting, and features one of his most memorable themes.  It perfectly captures the loneliness, yearning, and neediness of its two leading characters in one fantastic cue after another.  The solo trumpet, sax, and trombone work is breathtaking, as is Previn’s writing for strings – romantic, rueful, filled with love, pain, and the whole damned thing.  And then there’s the jazz element – and no one did the jazz element in film scores quite like Previn.   It’s forty-four minutes of pure Previn heaven.

The CD has been remixed from the original three-track stereo session masters and it sounds as if it were recorded yesterday, only things recorded yesterday don’t sound this good.

This release is limited to 1000 copies only.  The price is $19.98 plus shipping.
